I got better. Well, sorta. He still pops in my head and memories flood back. But, I've gotten better with coping.
Until I saw him with her.
It was starting to become colder. It was the first time where I had to spend it without cuddles. But it was easy.
It was thanksgiving break and the trees had been completely naked as the leaves were all scattered on the floor.
Instead of watching Christmas movies and cuddling up next to him. I went out into the town mall and browsed for Christmas gifts.
I had a hot chocolate in my hand, the warmth of the drink giving me warmth all over as I took sips. I felt like I was at peace.
I was walking down the sidewalks. It wasn't that busy as it was a Sunday and everyone just decided to stay home and be with there families. Some would think it would be to early to go shopping for Christmas. But I like to get an early head start.
And I guess he remembered when he walked out of the store with a bag in one hand and a girls hand in another.
She was pretty. Dirty blond hair with curves that shown through her fall outfit. She looked like a model. Good posture and her smile was bright and didn't seem like she was faking it. He had the same smile. It wasn't fake. He look generally happy. More happy than he was with me.
They sat down on a bench in front of a huge tree that had fairy lights hanging from it. From where I was standing, it would've been a perfect couple picture.
They were a perfect couple.
I couldn't take my eyes off them. They were glued on them as they sat and talked and laughed. I bet her laugh sounded amazing because every time she laughed, I could see his smile getting bigger.
I haven't seen him since our last encounter. And the first thing I see after not seeing him for months, was him being happier with another girl.
But when I got a better look at her. It wasn't just any girl. It was the same girl he cheated on me with.
And I could see why he would cheat on me with her. Making me break into pieces. I wanted to fall right then and there. I wanted to cry as I fell on my knees and could hear my whole heart break.
Then we made eye contact.
And I swear I felt the whole world fall under my feet.
His face expression dropped. His smile disappeared. Making me break even more. He looked upset to see me.
Which made me angry.
Why did he look so upset? He was the one who broke my heart. He was the one who decided to cheat. He's the one who couldn't wait.
I felt any hand burn as a burning liquid dripped all over my hand. I looked over and noticed I squeezed my hand so hard that the cap popped off and the drink spilled all over my hand and was now dripping.
I looked back at him as his expression turned to worry. But I could barely feel a thing. I could just feel the warmth hitting my skin and dripping down.
I threw the cup on the floor, and looked back at him. He still had the same expression. But I didn't wanna wait for something to happen.
I turned my heel and walked away, going back to my car and getting the fuck out of here.
I didn't wanna be in the same area as him. I couldn't. I couldn't look at him without imagining him on top of her. I couldn't look at him without wanting to break down.
Once I shut the door of my car, I looked at the steering wheel ready to leave. But, I sat there frozen, processing what just happened.
I banged my fist on the steering wheel and kicked my feet. I felt hot tears trickling down my face as I angrily hit my car in frustration.
