"Thank you for coming Ethan. I'm glad you came for another visit. Please, sit." Ethan sat on the green leather couch across from Ms. Lenn, who sat with her legs crossed in her light pink chair.

"So please, tell me what's bothering you." She smiled softly as Ethan fiddled with his fingers. He sat silent before sitting up straight in his chair and taking a deep breath.

"The rain, it bothers me." He looked out the window where droplets landed and slowly slipped down. Ms. Lenn looked too and looked back at him. "Gloomy weather, it always makes people sad. But is there a personal reason it bothers you?"

Ethan sighed and looked back up out the window. His eyes burned as tears blurred his vision and his hands shivering as they were cold as ice. "She loved the rain."

Ms. Lenn nodded and took some notes. Ethan has been visiting her for almost a year now. But for the last 2 months he hadn't shown up to his appointments. So seeing him here was a huge surprise and meant that there was a lot of catching up to do.

They sat in silence for a couple more minutes. Ms. Lenn stared at him intently as he stared out the window.

"What's your favorite memory of the rain Ethan?" Ms. Lenn asked trying to break the silence. Ethan looked at her for a second before finally speaking.

"December 11, 2017"

flash back

She stared out her window as the rain fell heavily onto the window. I stared at her and couldn't take my eyes off her. She seemed sad. But the light was still sparkling in her eyes. So I didn't know if I should ask if she was okay or not. Her body language was sad, but her eyes were still brightened with happiness. They weren't dull and dead.

She sat in her window with her head leaning against the glass that separated her from the outside. She took deep breaths. She's inhale and after 3 seconds she'd exhale following the rhythm of the rain.

"Princess, are you okay?" I finally asked. She jumped out of whatever state she was in and turned to me, smiling. She nodded her head and took one more deep breath.

"The rain just relaxes me. Don't worry." She smiled and turned her head back to the window. I nodded and walked over to stand next to her. It was pretty relaxing to hear the rain fall and soft thunder.

I stood next to her focusing on the rain until she opened the window, letting the rain come in.

"Babe what are you doing!?" I yelled as I closed it shut and locked it. She chuckled as she wiped the rain drops from her face. I laughed as well. She was always trying to do something dumb.

"Let's go outside! Let's dance in the rain!" She quickly jumped off and grabbed my arm. But before she could walk out her room I pulled her close to me.

"Babe, it's pouring. We're gonna get sick." I chuckled, pushing a strand of her hair back. She rolled her eyes and wrapped her arms around my waist.

"I don't care! We'll take care of each other. Let's just have some fun right now." She smiled. I couldn't say no. Her smile was so bright. Her eyes still shined. I found warmth in her arms and her eyes.

She chuckled and pulled with with her out of her room and out the door. She let go of my arm once her foot stepped out the door and ran into the middle of the empty street, jumping and dancing. I could hear her laughing from the patio and it made me feel all warm inside.

"Why are you just standing there? Come dance with me!" She yelled as she kept twirling in the street. I chuckled and ran out with her, jumping around with her and twirling her around.

I picked her up and twirled her around. We kept laughing and laughing until we ran out of breath and I put her back onto the ground and we laid in the middle of the street, the rain pouring on us but we didn't care. We just enjoyed each other presence.

I felt her eyes on me and when I turned to face her, she smiled. I smiled back. She grabbed my hand and interlocked our fingers together.

"I love you Ethan." She said.

I smiled and felt my breath hitch in my throat. Every time when she says that she still manages to take my breath away.

"I love you too Y/N."

Her smile got brighter. And she tightened her grip around my hand.

I never wanted to leave this moment.

Present

Ms. Lenn wrote down in her notepad. Ethan stared down at his legs as he waited for her to finish writing so they could move on.

As much as he loved the memory.

He hated reliving it.

Ms. Lenn looked up to find Ethan not staring at the rain or her anymore. She put down her notepad and crossed her legs, looking at him.

"When was the last time you visited her Ethan?" Ms. Lenn asked. Ethan looked up and with tears in his eyes he said, "Since her funeral."

After the appointment

Ethan walked out Ms. Lenn's office and out the building. He looked up at the sky as rain poured down in front of him, the roof shielding him.

His attention went back to in front of him as he heard laughter. He looked ahead and his eyes widened.

She was dancing in the rain, twirling and jumping into puddles. She laughed as she looked up into the sky letting the rain hit her face.

She finally looked down and saw him, a smile rushing over her as she stopped dancing just to look at him. She waved at him making her smile bigger.

He didn't wanna believe it. He's seeing her.

Before he took a step, a car drove in front of him. As they passed by she was gone.

He sighed and looked both ways before crossing the street to his car.

He got into his car and picked up his phone to see if he had gotten any messages.

He goes onto social media to see if there was anything new. But as he scrolled, the more it reminded him of her and the real reason he went to therapy today.
