I sat on my couch watching American horror story as halloween was around the corner and watching the series always seemed to calm me down.
It was a peaceful night. It was cold but not too cold. Just a slight chill here and there but overall, it was perfect weather for blankets and sweats.
I was home alone. All the lights were on and my dog was peacefully sleeping under the blanket as I chewed on some cookies. It seemed like a good night.
I was interrupted from my perfect night as the door bell rang. I paused my show and looked over to the door.
Maybe it was just in my head. I was alone after all, so it was all just in my head.
I looked over to my dog to see if he woke up because usually when the door bell rang he'd look at it as well. As I turned my head I already saw him standing on the couch looking towards the door.
I groaned as I whipped the blanket off my legs and closed the box of cookies, making sure he didn't eat it.
I stood up and started walking towards my door. It wasn't that late out. 8 pm. It was probably my best friend since I did ask her to come over. Or my neighbor checking in on me since my parents were out of town.
I stood on my tippy toes and looked through the small peep hole through my door.
My mouth hung open as my heart dropped to the pit of my stomach. My eye got tired from looking for so long that I had to close it and back away.
Why was he here? What was he going to say? Did he finally make up his mind? I already knew the answer.
Deep down in my heart, I knew he did. He would've been dumb too.
I took a deep breath and wrapped my fingers around the door knob, looking up and slowly turning the knob, opening the door and letting cold air rush inside.
As I opened the door wider, he turned his body towards me and once we made eye contact, his smile appeared and the world seemed to stop.
He wore an olive green puffy jacket with black sweats. His hands were stuck in his pockets and as he let out a breath, fog seemed to escape from the cold.
"Hey Y/N." He said, smiling even brighter but nervously at the same time. I swallowed down my fear as I looked him up and down. He made his choice.
"Hey Grayson." I sighed. I already knew why he was here. A part of me wish I was wrong. But the way he smiled and the way he spoke, it didn't feel right.
"Come in." I said, moving to the side and opening the door wider. He smiled and nodded his head, walking in past me and looking around the house as if it was his first time coming in.
As I closed the door I mentally prepared myself for what was going to happen. I turned around and he set his coat onto the coat rack that stood at the entrance of the door.
I walked past him into the living room where my dog had went back to sleeping under the sheets. I carefully grabbed the remote that was near him and turned off the tv. I didn't bother cleaning up since I was going back to the same spot once he left.
"No parents huh?" He asked, chuckling. I smiled a little bit as I faced him, nodding my head. I walked into the kitchen and started grabbing out some coffee packets.
I already knew he followed me as I could hear his footsteps enter the room. I turned to him and held up the packets, asking if he wanted some. He shook his head no and I nodded, putting them away.
