I rushed around the house, getting ready for work. For some reason, my alarms didn't go off. I'll have to check my phone later.

As I was hurrying Tsubaki was under my feet and getting in the way. I swear he's doing it on purpose. Finally finish getting ready, as I'm about to leave Tsubaki sits at the door.

"Come on Tsubaki I'm late, please move." He doesn't move.

"Please move your butt!" Don't tell me he wants to come.

"Do you want to come or something? You know you can't come right." He lays down curls up.

"Okay okay, you can come. Just move aside I'm going to be late." He gets up moves aside.

"Thank you!" Rush out the door, Tsubaki just strolls out. I'm not dealing with this, sit him on my shoulder.

I get to the shop on time, "just made it."

"Slept in? Haha." Suzie looks up from her book.

"Thought I set my alarms, I must have turned them off."

"You should get one of those digital clocks, hard to set."

"Maybe..." I set my bag down, fixed myself up.

"Who's this little guy?" Suzie went to pat Tsubaki instead, he jumps to my other shoulder.

I laugh, "this is Tsubaki. A fox I found the other day."

"Really? Where did you find him?"

"In an alleyway, he was just laying there. So I took him home, I was thinking about taking him back to the woods. He's just too cute to let go. He hasn't made any attempts to leave."

"I'm surprised at how calm he is with you. Don't foxes run away from humans?"

"Yeah, they do but Tsubaki different." I scratch under his chin.

"He must like you. By the way, we have a delivery coming this afternoon. And it's a big one, don't freak out if you don't get everything pack away."

"I won't I'm on in the morning anyway. I'll finish it then."

"Okay have fun, bye Tsubaki." She waves goodbye.

"Just us now... If you're going to be here, you're going to have to hide alright. You're not supposed to be here. Just stay behind the counter and we won't have any problems." He stares at me.

"If you be good I'll buy you some sushi on the way home." He hops in the shelves under the counter.

"Good boy ~ Now I have work."

In a few hours, tidy the place up. Gave it a quick vacuum I probably won't be able to once the delivery comes.

I heard someone come in, look over to the entrance see a brunette teenage boy. "Hello, can I help you?"

"Hi, I was wondering if you have any cleaning cloth?"

"Yes we do, there just over here." Just as I was leading him to the shelves something jumps out of his bag.

"What that?!"

"Kuro!"

He runs behind the counter, "Tsubaki!"

The boy grabs the cat, Tsubaki jumps into my arms. "You okay Tsubaki? You should have stayed home." I don't see any scratches or bite marks, that's good.

Look over to the boy and his cat. "Is your cat alright?"

"Yeahhh... He's fine, what was your fox's name?"

"Tsubaki after the camellia flower. Why?"

"That's an odd name to call a fox." Both the boy and cat we're eyeing us off.

"Funny story, ha. I was putting some cream on, call 'The Scent of Camellia'. You know they don't really have a scent. I said another name of the flower is Tsubaki. And he seemed like the name, so I called him Tsubaki."

"Where did you find him?" Why is he asking questions?

"Why do you want to know? He's just a fox I found."

"Just a fox? Why does he have red eyes and two tails!" The cat jumped down started hissing.

"Look I think you should take your cat and leave. I really don't want them to get into a fight and get hurt. They both seem agitated."

The boy grabs Tsubaki out of my hands. "What are you doing? Give him back?!"

Tsubaki tries to wiggle out, the boy starts shaking him. "Stop you're going to hurt him!"

I manage to pry his hands loose. "Leave the store now before I call security!"

"You don't know what you're getting yourself into!"

"He's just a fox! Now leave!"

The cat proofs into guy. "What the?"

I fall back on to my butt hold Tsubaki close. "You're such a pain..."

I quickly jump up to run to the back of the store. "I don't understand, what's going on."

"Tsubaki..." The guy gets closer to us, he stared at Tsubaki for a moment.

He stood back up, "It's the wrong fox, Mahiru. How troublesome..."

Proof he was a black cat again. "What's going on?"

"Sorry about that, we mistaken your fox for another."

"It's okay, can we forget that this happens." Got back up made my way to the counter.

"Sure, I'm Mahiru and this Kuro."

"I'm (Y/N)... Did you still want those cleaning cloth?"

"Oh yes, please..."

"This way," I kept Tsubaki close to me. As I showed Mahiru the cloth.

He brought some and left. I was so glad to see him leave.

The delivery came, and I spent the rest of the afternoon packing quilt covers, sheet sets, towels away.

Now it's closing time, "Tsubaki you can come out now." He walks out from behind the counter.

"I'll quickly count up the day's money. And then well get sushi, and I'll buy you extra." He sits there with his head down.

"Hey, what's wrong?" I crouch down to pet him. He looks up at me, his eyes... They look so sad, depressed.

"Did you just want to go straight home?" He jumps up to me.

"Okay, I'll be quick."

I come back from the shower, Tsubaki curled up on the bed. "Feeling any better?" I ask as sit on the bed. He tucks himself more into a ball.

I hop into bed, turn the lamp off. A few seconds later I feel Tsubaki go under the sheets. "It's okay tomorrow will be a better day."

I close my eyes and go to sleep.
