After weeks of endless practice, you'd think that the company would let a single dance session slide, wouldn't you?
You thought wrong.
Jimin sighed when he heard the news. Yes, he loved the ARMYs, and he loved doing his job, but enough was enough. It all started when Namjoon alerted them of the unplanned training at breakfast that day. Jimin was sleeping off all the aches and pains from the day before when he told them.
Jimin turned to Jungkook, still sat in bed having just woken up. He pouted,
"Do we have to, Jungkookie?"
Jungkook smiled fondly and replied,
"Yeah we do. I'm sorry baby, I know you've worked really hard so far," as he leaned down to embrace his boyfriend.
Jimin grumbled for a while before finally dragging himself out of bed. As soon as he stood up, his head span as a strong sense of vertigo hit him quickly.
He stumbled into Jungkook's arms for a moment until the nausea stopped. He felt a hand run through his soft pink hair and a mellow voice ask,
"Baby, are you okay?"
Jimin realised quickly that he was worrying the younger, and pulled away quickly, muttering,
"Fine, just stood up too fast," and off he went to find some decent clothes to dance in.
Once the seven tired boys were situated in the minibus that had arrived for them, they set off for the BigHit building. Jimin tried to get some extra rest during the journey, but ultimately failed when he was presented with an aisle seat. How was he supposed to rest now?
Jungkook saw the evident struggle as Jimin sat down beside his own window seat, trying to get comfortable. It was impossible as Jimin had so many aching muscles that no position was making him feel any better.
"Jiminie," Jungkook whispered, a sudden seriousness in his tone. Jimin hummed in reply.
"Please don't work too hard today. You're still recovering," Jungkook pleaded sadly.
Jimin brushed it off with a forced smile; his head was beginning to hurt,
"I'll be fine, Kook, it's just a little while longer,"
And what a time it was.
Once they arrived they got straight down to dancing, rehearsing most of the setlist for the last leg of the tour back in Korea. They had a week to go before the Love Yourself Final, and tension was high within the BigHit staff. Everything had to be perfect.
After practicing the mashup performance of Dope, Baepsae and Fire, the choreographer noticed Jimin making a few mistakes. Pressing play on the next track, Idol, he stared at Jimin whilst saying,
"Make sure you stay consistent guys,"
Jimin knew for a fact that he only said that because of him. He panted out a few unsteady breaths before getting into position for the chorus part.
That was around when Jimin's head started feeling like it was being split open. The nausea from the morning had returned in all its rage, bringing a nasty ache in his stomach along with it.
He couldn't continue a second longer in this condition, but believe me, he tried. However, his sight failed him as he began seeing double of the choreographer. Feeling his legs giving way, and making no attempt to avoid collapsing, his exhausted body gave into the fatigue.
Jungkook was at Jimin's side before he could process what had happened. All he knew was that he had heard a thud sound and turned to see Jimin on his hands and knees, gasping weak little breaths.
"Jimin!" The others screamed in a flurry of panic. Jungkook placed a hand on Jimin's sweaty back, saying softly,
"Jimin, lie down for a moment. Just take some deep breaths-"
He couldn't carry on as Jimin let out a pained whine, soft and broken, before letting his arms stop supporting him. Before the nearly unconscious boy could hit his head on the floor, Jungkook grabbed him by the shoulders and directed him into his chest instead.
The music was no longer playing. The choreographer was stood in shock at the front of the room. The members were scattered around the couple, looking on in fear.
Jimin felt terrible. Not just physically, because now he was taking away all the attention from the other members, who must be just as tired as him.
Jungkook tried to comfort him with a hug, but surprisingly Jimin weakly pushed him away with a whimper.
"Jimin, please, let us help you," Jin said, kneeling down as well and holding a bottle of water.
Jimin would have responded, really, but his body had other plans. Finally, after hours of stress and pain, he succumbed to the sleep that was welcoming him.
Jungkook watched his boyfriend's eyes close and felt the weight on him, knowing that Jimin had fainted.
Tears started to reach the brim of his eyes and fell down his cheeks.
"Jimin!" He yelled, hugging him tighter than ever.
Jin stood back up with wide eyes. He turned to the choreographer. Then he said in a dark tone, that was nearly never heard by the members,
"Finish the session. We're taking him home."
"Lie him down."
"He needs water when he wakes up."
"Does he have a fever?"
"He looks really pale,"
Jimin heard all of these things as he began to break through his own consciousness, fighting to return to reality.
"Guys, he's waking up!"
He opened his eyes and instantly regretted it as the first thing he saw was a bright light. He squinted whilst groaning softly. Then he was struck with a terrible pain in his head.
Jungkook, who was sat beside Jimin, noticed the sudden change in the peaceful expression of his sleeping boyfriend.
"Jimin? What's wrong?"
Jimin sat up all of a sudden, startling Jungkook, Jin and Namjoon. Meanwhile, Jungkook was frantically supporting Jimin by his shoulders, looking into his eyes for any signs of illness.
Jimin saw the three other members in the room and immediately started crying.
"Hey, hey, don't cry baby," Jungkook comforted, taking his sobbing boyfriend into his arms.
Jimin inhaled a squeaky breath,
"I ruined everything! The- the practice-"
"We all needed a break Jimin, it's good that we stopped if anything," Namjoon reassured from the doorway.
Jimin sighed and leaned into Jungkook, who kissed him lightly on the forehead, and wiped his tears away.
"I'll bring up something for you to eat later," Jin said, getting up and leaving with Namjoon.
Jungkook and Jimin lay down and cuddled, for hours on end. Even when Jimin felt completely better he didn't want to move. He would never move if it meant he could be held like this.
"Thank you Kookie," he mumbled, voice light as he began to drift to sleep.
"Anytime, Jiminie," Jungkook whispered as Jimin finally closed his eyes.
I'll post the final part of the Hobi series next to wrap it all up. Then I'll maybe write a Christmas special, another Jimin request and that'll be it for this year!
