Date Night (Part 2)
(IM NOT OFFENDING GAYS AT ALL IN THIS CHAPTER.)
*Day Fifteen*
Ashton POV
I feel like it's going pretty well so far. We're at dinner right now and we're just having casual back and forth conversation. It's like how it's always been, just now it has a title.
She's already said she likes me, and I told her I like her as well. (Which technically isn't the full truth since I love her but who's keeping track, right?) The boys gave me a great long list of what to do and what not to do. I'm doing great. I think.
"And then Dylan comes running into the kitchen with a frog in his hand and my mother absolutely flips out. She's yelling to get it out of the house and it jumps out of Dylan's hand. He jumps someplace and we couldn't find him for about another day. We found him behind our dryer, just casually lying there. I called over my mother who came over with a Tupperware bowl and a wooden spoon. She very nicely scooped him up and put him in the bowl, then outside. Then she boiled the bowl and spoon. But, I was so worried that when I got home from school a frog would jump onto my face. So that was the story of how we lost a frog in our house."
I laugh and she smiles.
Her smile is so pretty.
"Something like that happened to me once, expect we lost my brother and not a frog." I say.
"Oh, my God."
"We all went to a park- and when we say all, I mean me, my brother and sister, mom, and dad. We just went to the park to let Harry, who is only two at this point play for a little before dinner. He was in his wondering stage where if he something going on, he had to figure out what it was. I was on the swings with Lauren when my dad came running over. He's asking us where Harry went and I tell him I don't know. I go into panic mode and the four of us are running around the park. I'm asking random strangers is they've seen a small, two year old boy and they all said no. My mom isn't really helping because she's so worried he was kidnapped, and my dad is trying to calm her down. So it's just me and Lauren. Finally, though, Lauren calls us over to a bush where we see him sitting there playing with a butterfly in his nose."
"I would be traumatized if that happened to my toddler."
"I wasn't let out of my mothers sight for two weeks."
"Seriously?"
"I didn't go anywhere. My mother knew where I was, at all times. It took my father three hours to convince her that I was old enough to be let out of her sight."
"That's too funny. My mom wouldn't let Dylan pick up any more wild animals any more. He was diagnosed about six months after that, so he was five and I was twelve in seventh grade." I nod my head.
"Don't you just love parents?" I sarcastically say.
"My parents forgot to pay the money to apply to college. I almost wasn't accepted because of it."
"Now they know what not to do."
"I feel like I was the guinea pig, though."
"Of course you were. I was. Every eldest child is. The parents have no idea how to be a parent. First child, poof, guinea pig."
"Why do we call a person that is being used to figure something out a guinea pig?" Belle asks.
"I think it's because when someone is testing something, guinea pigs are often used."
"Really?"
"Really."
"Tell me, Mr. Einstein, how do you know this."
"Hey, I'm basically an encyclopedia that walks."
She scoffs. "Yeah, okay."
"I am!"
"You're also very humble, I can see."
"Oh, yes, Annabelle, I'm very humble."
"Sure, you are."
"Your food." The waiter says. He hands me my order, and Annabelle hers. "You know, you gotta be a big dude to eat a burger like that."
"Um," I say. What is happening?
"And you have long fingers-"
"Yeah, can I have a refill?" Annabelle quickly asks, cutting him off. There's a look in her eyes. What is that?
The waiter huffs, sends me a smile, takes her cup and walks away. Belle does a sassy hang gesture that basically says Be gone, peasant.
"Annabelle, are you jealous?" I teasingly ask.
"He was flirting with you! You're on a date with me. Not him."
"Oh, stop being homophobic."
"I'm not homophobic. Excuse me when someone else flirts with the guy I like."
Her saying that made my heart flutter, but I was told to just act cool about it. "I'm just saying." I say.
"He was going to make a comment about your dick."
"Well, I must say, my dick is pretty impressive."
"Here." The waiter says Belle her drink, then walks away.
I laugh at the face she makes at him. It's a Go-The-Fuck-Away face.
She smirks when she spots something to her left. "Remember Laura?" She asks and my smile fades.
"Damn, is she here?"
"Yeah, and she seems to be buddy-buddy with Mr. Flirtatious Gay. They don't seem to like me."
"Well, if I'm attractive to women, I'm attractive to gay men."
"You didn't seem to like Laura as much."
"Yeah, because you didn't get jealous over Laura. You did to Gaycity."
"I'm just saying."
