Explanations and Explosions

Annabelle POV

Calum and Jenna are currently guiding all our friends into the kitchen. They're planning on spilling their secret, just as they promised to me they would.

"What's this all about?" Michael questions.

"Shush." Calum quiets him. He takes a breath before starting. "You all have your relationships with someone in this group. Everyone thinks that Ashton and Annabelle were first. But, in fact, they weren't."

"We were." Jenna says.

"Wait, you're dating?" Meghan asks, and they nod, "Why didn't you tell us?"

"This started in October, two months before the project was assigned, and before we all became friends. It was back when us girls still assumed that the boys were bad guys!" Jenna explains, "I didn't want you guys to hate me or Calum just because you thought he wasn't good for me."

"What about you, Cal? Why didn't you tell us?" Luke asks.

"To be fair. If Jenna couldn't tell her friends, I couldn't tell mine."

"When we became friends, though, we realized that they weren't bad. Why didn't you tell us then?" Amelia questions

Calum sighs and rubs his hand against his temple before speaking, "I did it for Ashton."

"What?" Ashton asks. "What does this have to do what me?"

"You wanted to hang out with Belle for so long, I thought that a relationship would throw a wrench into that and you wouldn't be able to. I don't know, it was stupid. I just wanted you to get the girl."

"But when I did, you still kept it a secret."

"We thought you'd be pissed." Calum explains.

"Guys, we're sorry. We should have told you. And we wanted to, from the very beginning. We just thought that keeping it a secret would be best. And by the way, Annabelle walked in on us kissing yesterday and made us promise to tell you today."

"Well, I'm happy you told us now." Amelia says. "Even if if was late."

"Yeah, you two are cute together." Meghan says and I smile. I really hope everyone takes this well.

"That was cool of you to worry about me, man." Ashton tells Calum, and Luke agrees.

"Michael, we haven't heard a lot from you lately."

"Yeah, well, apparently not telling anyone anything is okay." Michael responds.

Oh, shit.

"Michael-" Jenna tries to reason, be he cuts her off.

"No! Calum, you're supposed to be my best friend! How can we trust each other if you don't tell me anything? And Jenna, not telling your best friends simply because they didn't like Calum is stupid. If you're friends, they would have understood. The only reason you even told us is because Belle made you! You might have kept this a secret forever, always finding one reason after another! Calum, I appreciate you not wanting to ruin Ashton's chances, but you two dating would not have affected his relationship with Belle." Michael yells, then walks to the stairs, "Talk to me when you want to be open with me." He rushes up the stairs, and I'm assuming he's going to the guest bedroom. Amelia gives us an apologetic look before chasing after him.

Jenna breaks down into tears. I rush over to her side, with Calum. Meghan, Ashton, and Luke just chill by us. "He's right, you know." Jenna says.

"Yeah, I know." Calum says. "We deserved it."

"I knew we should have told them! But I had to trick myself into thinking that it was best. He's right, we can't have trust in our friends if we're not fully open with them."

"No, Jenna, it was my fault. I tricked you into believing it was best." Calum argues. Jenna looks at me through her teary eyes.

"What do you think?" She asks.

"I do think you should have told us. I agree that having trust is needed in any relationship you have with a person. But I appreciate that you regret it, and that you believe you shouldn't have kept it from us."

"So we were wrong to keep it from you." Jenna says quietly, and nods.

"Yes, but you now what? This gives all of us a chance to learn something. Communication is key, and secrets are stupid. He's told you what he has to say, and now you can fix it. It's okay."

"I just don't want Michael to hate us forever."

"Oh, my God, he's not going to hate you forever. He'll get over it, he can come down here, and you can make up."

"Do you promise?"

"I do, I promise." Like she's on que, Amelia walks back into the kitchen. "Milly! How is he?"

"Uh, he's pretty upset. He wasn't like pissed to the point of throwing things around, but he was definitely upset."

"What did he say?"

"He kept mentioning how keeping secrets is like not having trust in one another, and how trust is vital in a friendship. That's really what his explosion was about, how every reason for not telling us was invalid, and that if more trust was present, none of this would have happened."

"I do trust him." Calum says. "He knows that, doesn't he?"

"Yes, he does. He just wishes that you would have told him."

"I understand. Can I go talk to him?"

"Uh, I'd give him a little but of time." Amelia looks at the clock on the wall. "It's currently ten am, and we planned on leaving at six pm, so how about four? He should be good to talk to by then. Until four, he'll be in the guest room."

"Alright. And are sure you guys aren't mad?" Calum asks the five of us. We all shake our heads.

"Nah," Luke says, "I've got bigger issues to deal with. My stomach is rumbling like a thirty year old redneck smokes."

A/N: poor mikey.

I got out early. If I were to had a full day, I would have gotten out twenty minutes ago and I already have my homework done.

UPDATE! I'm wearing fuzzy socks.

Hope you enjoyed! See you next update!
