Chapter Six: A Heartbreaking Discovery

(Y/N) Pov

I wake up earlier than usual. After all I have a trip to plan for. I get out of bed and put my mask on and change my clothes. I strap the sword I made a month ago to my hip. I conceal the blade with my overcoat, I then walk out of my room and to the main courtyard. I take the book out and draw myself a car that wouldn't bring much attention to myself. I get in the driver's seat and take my mask off, the car has tinted windows so no one can see inside. I start the long drive to Patch...or at least as close as I can get to it.

Six hours later...

I arrive at a shore that is the closest to Patch. I draw myself a motorboat and set off for the coast of Patch.

One hour later

I arrive on the beach and set off to the one place where I can learn the exact place Ruby lives, Signal Academy. On my way I see a man with blonde hair walking around the town. His hair reminds me of Yang...I decide to test something. I make sure my mask is secure on my face before calling out to him.
(Y/N): "Excuse me sir?"
The man looks at me, then around him and points to himself.
(Y/N): "Yes, you."
He walks over to me, confused.
Man: "Uhh...what can I do for you?"
(Y/N): "I wanted to know if you could help me find someone."
The man puts in a friendly expression.
Man: "Oh, who are you looking for?"
(Y/N): "I'm looking for Summer Rose."
The man's face falls into a frown. He exhales and scratches the back of his head.
Man: "I'm sorry to tell you this, but shes...dead."
I knew this already but I had an idea to get this man to help me some more.
(Y/N): "Oh...oh no...now my debt to her can never be paid."
Man: "What do you mean?"
(Y/N): "A long time ago Summer helped my father and he swore to repay the debt someday. However he died from an illness in the area. So now it is up to me to repay the debt."
Man: "Well...you could repay the debt to me if will take the burden off your shoulders."
(Y/N): "What are you talking about?"
Man: "I'm Taiyang, Summer's husband. So repaying the debt to me would be like repaying the debt to her."
(Y/N): "I suppose your right...oh were are my manners. My name is Salem."
Taiyang's expression shifts.
Taiyang: "Your name is...Salem?"
(Y/N): "Oh is there a problem...does Salem mean something else here?"
Taiyang: "What does it mean where your from?"
(Y/N): "Where I'm from Salem can mean Peace."
Taiyang starts to chuckle a little.
Taiyang: "Sorry about that. Anyway if you want to repay your debt I could have you clean my house. I don't have really anything else for you to do."
I smile and extend my hand for a handshake.
(Y/N): "That sounds like a perfect deal to me."

Taiyang's house

I open the door to Tai's house, he wanted me to start calling him that, and I enter the hallway. I start to tidy up the place a little. It wasn't that messy so it wouldn't take long. I move on to the bedrooms and start to clean them. In Ruby's bedroom I notice a framed picture, it was of Ruby and her mother when Ruby was...maybe five or six. I move on to Yang's room and clean a bit. On the desk I notice a picture that was faced down. I pick it up and see a woman that resembled Yang but had black hair and red eyes. I put the picture down and move on to Tai's room. In this room I start to search for anything that could help me find the gem Summer had. I find nothing but one thing does peak my curiosity. The closest had a padlock on it...curious. I draw myself a lock pick and start to open the lock. The lock opens and I open the closest and a wooden box tumbles out of the closet and onto the floor with its contents spilling out. A single piece of paper fell out of the box however. I pick the paper up and look it over. It was a letter...an old one, I smile to myself and put the letter in my pocket. I clean up the mess I made and lock the closet back up. I then go back into Ruby's room and take the picture. I then go outside and start to wait for Tai to return.

Ten minutes later

I start to debate on just leaving a note when I see a car pull into the yard. I walk over to the car as Tai gets out of it.
(Y/N): "Your house is now spotless."
Tai: "I hope so, there wasn't that much to clean in the first place."
(Y/N): "No problem, well I better start heading back home. Would want my father to get angry with me."
Tai: "Wait, I thought you said your father died."
(Y/N): "Oh, sorry! I was talking about my adoptive father. He was a family friend who took care of me when I lost my dad. I consider like my real father..."
Tai: "Oh, well I'd love to meet him someday."
(Y/N): "Perhaps you will. Anyway see you around."
Tai: "Oh! One more thing...whats with the mask?"
I freeze i place...I make up a convincing story.
(Y/N): "Where I'm from we wear these masks to wars off the grimm and any evil spirits that could bring us harm. The masks also allow us to see and speak to the spirits of our lost family members."
Tai: "That is...very interesting and unique.
I bid Tai farewell and I start to make my long trek back to the castle.

Wilfre's Castle

As soon as I get back I immediately head for the dungeon where Ruby is. However I notice that the door is open and there are sounds of a struggle inside. I peer in and see the guard trying to remove the rest of Ruby's clothes. I sigh and go into the cell with my sword drawn. I tap on the guard's shoulders and when he turns to face me I stab my sword into his chest. As he crumples to the ground I turn my attention to Ruby.
(Y/N): "Are you alright."
Ruby looks at me shaken and then at the former guard.
Ruby: "You killed him..."
(Y/N): "He was disrespecting my orders of no harm coming to you unless its from me. Only I can harm you."
Ruby: "A-alright..."
I sheathe my sword and and walk closer to Ruby. I crouch down to her level with a smile on my face.
(Y/N): "Do you want me to change your entire life up until now?"
Ruby: "W-what do you mean...?"
(Y/N): "I have in my possession a letter that will make you reconsider your opinion of Ozpin and of some of the people in your life."
Ruby: "What?"
I pull the letter out and give it to Ruby. And she starts to read it.
Ruby: "..."
She starts to tear up and she looks up at me.
Ruby: "W-where did you find this?"
(Y/N): "In your dad's locked closet in a wooden box."
Ruby looks back down, tears still streaming from her eyes. I sigh and wipe the tears away.
(Y/N): "I will give you an option. You could stay here, become my personal servant that I can do whatever I want with. Or I can exchange you back to Beacon in order to get something I want. What do you say?"
Ruby stays silent for a while before looking back up at me.
Ruby: "...I-I want to choose..."
