Chapter Seven: Secrets and Lies

Ozpin's Pov

Something...strange has been going on with Ruby. When she returned from her apparent "cookie run" she hasn't spoken a single word. She claims that it has to do with a sore throat but...
Yang: "OZPIN!!!!!"
Ozpin: "Gah! Oh Yang, whats the problem."
Yang: "So...Ruby disappeared into thin air!"
Ozpin: "What!"
Yang: "She's gone! Is she dead!"
Before I can respond a piece of paper and a photo are dropped on my desk through a portal. The portal closes immediately, I pick the paper up with caution. It's a note.
Yang: "What does the note say!"
Ozpin: "It says, how did you like my look alike Ruby. If you want the real Ruby back then you need to give me the necklace that Summer Rose is wearing in the picture. And it has to be delivered by Summer herself."
I look at the picture that was included and see the necklace the kidnapper wanted. Yang groans in anger.
Yang: "Don't they know that Summer is dead...which means they get to keep Ruby forever."
Ozpin: "...Yang, gather the teams..."
Yang: "What?"
Ozpin: "Gather the teams. I need to make a call..."
As Yang steps out I pick up my scroll and dial a number that I didn't think I would have to dial. It rings for a bit, then someone answers.
???: "Hello?"
Ozpin: "Ruby is in danger. Bring the necklace that with the unknown gem."
???: "...Understood."
Ozpin: "One more thing...they want Summer Rose to deliver it herself."
???: "...So its come to this..."
Ozpin: "Afraid so..."
???: "Where is the location?"
Ozpin: "Forever Fall."
???: "Got it, be there in two hours."
Ozpin: "Good."
I hang up and pick up my cup of coffee. I contemplate something odd though. How did they know?

3rd Pov

Ozpin and the teams he requested arrive at Forever Fall. The teams are RWBY, JNPR, SSSN and ARM_, who were all uncomfortable being in the Forever Fall. Tai also came along and was ready to kill the people who took his daughter. They wait...and wait...until finally eight men come out to meet them. Among them, shocking everyone, was Roman. Yang is furious.
Yang: "ROMAN!! YOU KIDNAPPED RUBY!?!?"
Roman: "My...uhhh new boss did."
Blake: "New boss?"
Roman: "Sorry, not allowed to elaborate further. Anyway you got the gem?"
Ozpin: "Its on the way...where's Ruby."
Roman turns to one of the men and nods. The man goes into the tree line and comes back with Ruby. Everyone is stunned to see the state that Ruby is in. Her hair was a mess, she looked miserable and her clothes were messy and torn...meaning at some point someone forcefully removed them. Yang is fuming with anger but Tai holds her back, even though he is even angrier.
Roman: "Well where is the gem?"
Yang: "Your horrible Roman! How do you expect Summer to give you the gem her-"
???: "I'm here..."
Everyone turns to the new voice. And some are stunned to see...Summer Rose, alive and well. Roman is silent for a few seconds before holding his hand out.
Roman: "The gem please."
Ami: "Wait! You replaced Ruby with a copy before...how do we know this Ruby is the real one."
Roman: "Well the copies don't talk right? Hey Red, say something."
Ruby looks up at her mom with a...irritated expression...
Ruby: "Hi mom..."
Ruby seemed to speak in an angry tone...but everyone was more focused on her appearance and making sure Roman didn't try anything.
Roman: "See its the real one! Now on to the gem."
Summer tosses the gem to Roman, who inspects it for a bit...he them turns to the man with Ruby and nods. The man releases Ruby from her shackles and steps away from her. Ruby slowly walks over to the others. Roman's scroll starts to ring, he answers.
Roman: "Hello? Oh hey...yeah I've got the gem...wait now? How am I supposed...wait really...can't the portal only handle...oh right sorry...okay bye."
As Roman hangs the call up a portal opens up and a man walks out of it...(Y/N). Roman goes through the portal as soon as (Y/N) gets out. Tai recognizes the man and starts to get angry.
Tai: "You...you kidnapped my daughter? So everything you told me yesterday was a lie..."
(Y/N): "Well there was one thing that was true about what I told you. I don't have parents."
Tai starts to charge at (Y/N)...but he falls to the ground. Tai looks back to see that Ruby tripped him.
Tai: "Ruby...what are you doing?"
Summer: "Yeah...what are you-"
Ruby: "SHUT UP!!!"
They are stunned and watch in horror as Ruby runs back over to (Y/N). She clings onto him and looks back at the others with tears and anger. Tai is furious.
Tai: "SALEM!!! WHAT DID YOU DO TO MY DAUGHTER!!!"
Ozpin and Summer are shocked about the mans name being the same as the queen of the grimm. (Y/N) just starts laughing.
(Y/N): "Its not what I've done to Ruby...its what you and Ozpin did to Ruby."
Tai is confused about the (Y/N)'s words, that is until he pulls out a piece of paper and starts to read it out loud.
(Y/N): "Dear Tai, you may have heard about Summer's "death" but do not worry for she is not actually dead. The mission she was assigned was to fake her death and go into hiding as to stay safe from our enemies. However only a select amount people can know about this as such you shouldn't tell your daughters. I'm sorry that things have to be this way but take solace in that Summer is alive and well. Sincerely Ozpin."
Everyone is stunned and starts to look at Tai and Ozpin. Even Summer is stunned.
Summer: "Ozpin! You didn't let Ruby know I was alive!"
Ozpin: "I thought it was for the best..."
(Y/N): "As much as I would like to see how this scene unfolds I really have to get going."
A portal opens up behind (Y/N) and Ruby. Reilly starts charging at (Y/N).
Reilly: "Your not going anywhere asshole!"
(Y/N) kicks Reilly in the chest knocking her back. He sighs and shakes his head.
(Y/N): "If you really want a fight you can fight my drawings."
The seven men that were guarding Roman step in front of (Y/N) with knives and guns pointed at the group.
(Y/N): "Well I'll be going now, come on Ruby."
(Y/N) and Ruby go through the portal and the apparent drawings stand in the way. Yang charges at them along with Nora and Reilly. The three men with the knives changed at them while the four men with pistols prepare to fire but they get gunned down by the other teams. And the three men with knives are overpowered and subdued. However they all vanish, their use having been fulfilled. Pyrrha thinks about the important questions.
Pyrrha: "Who was that man...and why does he hate us...

Wilfre's Castle-(Y/N) Pov

The portal brings Ruby and I into my room. Ruby is still clutching me, she looks up at me.
Ruby: "Please don't let them take me back...please."
(Y/N): "If thats what you want. It still surprises me that you would want to help me get the gem and be my personal servant."
Ruby: "Well after reading that letter and learning the truth...and the fact that you saved me from that guard who was gonna..."
I rub her head in acknowledgment of her words. Ruby now seems to understand why I hate Beacon...well part of the reason. Ruby looks around the room and sees my wall of photos and notices that all the people who mistreated me were on the wall...besides her.
Ruby: "Was I on that wall at some point?"
(Y/N): "Yes, these people helped ruin my life, especially Ozpin."
Ruby: "Why is my picture gone?"
(Y/N): "Cause I don't have to worry about you anymore. Now let's get you to a-"
Ruby: "Can I stay here tonight?"
(Y/N): "...Only if you don't touch my mask."
Ruby: "Okay!"
I climb into bed and Ruby jumps on top of me and snuggles into my chest. I smile and start petting her head as I drift off to sleep. Planning on how to find the other gems.
