[So I'm sorta getting irritated with wattpad and it's refreshing at random times stuff...but whatever.
Yes, I am finally back, sorry guys, I have a busy schedule. I will try to update more often, and not be like cruel Hussie and his 'let me leave for a year' cliffhanger.
So I'm gonna go update now.]
Rae's POV
Once I saw Dirk, my stomach dropped and I pushed Roxy away, and started to run after Dirk. Dirk jumped up and shoved through the crowd, bolting for the exit. "Dirk!" I tried to yell over the music, and failed. Face it, after so long of not talking, I definitely can't yell.
I tripped over someone's foot and hit the floor, but quickly got back up, and ran after him. I got to the exit and opened the door, expecting to see Dirk running off. I looked at my surroundings, the street devoid of anything living except maybe bugs.
I slumped to the curb, holding my head in my hands as my stomach continued to complain. Tears started to form and soon I could see little splashes falling to the concrete. Why was I so upset over this anyway? It's not like I am in a relationship with him or anything...
I fumbled for my phone, unlocking it before calling Dirk. After a few rings, it went straight to voicemail. I sniffled and cleared my throat, "Dirk, just listen to me, it wasn't what you thought. Can we just talk about this?" I gave a small pathetic sob that tried to disguise itself as a laugh. "Just call me back please," I hung up, putting my phone back in my bag.
I waited a few minutes looking at the moon, waiting for Dirk to call back, which never happened. After five minutes, I wiped underneath my eyes, and got up. I started walking to the car, silently drowning in grief. I unlocked the car and got in, driving, just driving, not even sure where to but just driving.
Once I stopped driving, I finally realized where I had gone. Dirk's house. I started to pull the car into reverse as a face peered out the window, Dave. "Well there is no stopping it now," I muttered, wiping underneath my eyes a final time before getting out of the car.
I walked up to the door, a slow and painful torture. What if he refused to see me? How awkward would that be? I sighed and knocked on the door, wrapping my arms around myself for comfort. After a moment, I could hear the latch move and the door open. I looked up from the ground to see Dave, who nodded at me. "Dirk's upstairs, do you want me to go get him?" I nodded, not speaking.
Dave looked at me for a moment before walking away, leaving the door open as an invite to come in. I stayed outside the door, waiting for Dirk to come down. How was this going to happen? Was he going to walk off the moment he saw me? Or would he yell at me?
I kept staring at my feet like they were actually interesting for a change, but there was nothing interesting about my cute pair of black leather combat boots with the fringe that Lacie had gotten for me about a year ago. I could hear someone walking towards me, and I knew exactly who it was.
They stopped and soon I could see their feet, which were even less interesting than my feet. He cleared his throat and spoke, "Why did you come here Rae?" I stiffened, nearly falling to pieces. Why did I come here? I honestly don't know... "I...I came here to tell you the truth, Dirk," I whispered, trying to to shake, and was so obviously failing.
"About what? There is nothing left to say, we aren't in a relationship so you are free to do whatever you want," Dirk sighed again, running a hand through his hair. Not that I could see that, but I just knew, because that's what Dirk always does. I looked up at him, snapping. "You know, that wasn't at all what happened? It was more of a thing where Roxy forced herself onto me, and of course, you had to see just that one moment. Now how do you think I feel? Not that I wanted her to do that, not that I wanted it to happen, and now you won't even talk to me because she did that," I froze, looking back down at the ground.
"But we are talking," Dirk muttered, pulling me close, his arms around my waist. "Look, the only thing I saw was you and Roxy kissing, which made it seem like you two are a thing, and of course I'm not going to ask, I just assumed you two were together." I blushed dark red, confused. "But we aren't a thing, I promise, I was just talking to Roxy and then she up and told me she likes me and then kisses me," I sighed, shaking my head.
Dirk sat there before nodding, "I believe you," "You do?" I whispered, my arms unfolding from around my body. He nodded slowly, "You haven't ever lied to me yet, not in the few years I've known you." "But we've only spoken in person for a few months," I sighed, looking away.
He nodded and hugged me, "I'm sorry for assuming, I shouldn't have done that, and I can tell you went through a lot since the party." "How?" I mused, confused. "Maybe it's the fact that your hair is messed up, your mascara is stained down your face and the fact that you are nearly whispering again," He kissed my forehead before pulling away.
"Look, we can talk about this at a later date alright? I need sleep because I have something to do tomorrow, and unless you want to sleep with me, I gotta go," He rested a hand on the door to close it. I nodded, dazed, "I-I'll talk to you later Dirk," I whispered, out of breath.
"Goodnight Rae," He said, and he kissed me.
And he kissed me, kissed me. On the lips.
And then he was gone, just like that. I walked back to my car, speechless, holding my hand up to my mouth. It really happened, it was just a peck but he totally kissed me. A grin broke out on my face as I drove home. Despite all things that happened today, today was amazing.
