Dirk's POV
I pulled up to the curb, pulling the keys out of the ignition before getting out. I looked around me, noticing all the cars. Apparently this was not going to be a small party...I sighed and started walking towards the house.
This was a train wreck. Cans were crushed up all over the lawn, the flowerbed had been trampled, thus crushing all the flowers. I opened the door, poking my head inside. Right inside the doorway, was John, Jane's younger brother and Dave among the crowd that was dancing.
I nodded and stepped around them. "Yo Dirk," Dave nodded, practically yelling over the music as he looked up at me through his shades. How was he able to see in here? Even I was having trouble seeing in all this low lighting. I nodded my head at him and started to weave through the crowd, stepping into the living room.
It was obvious where they talk of the town is. He was...indefinitely not sober. I mentally groaned and grabbed his arm. He wheeled around, a huge grin plastered onto his face. "Dirkkkkkk." He hiccuped, hugging me tightly. "You need a drink, here let me get you one." I shook my head at him, gripping his arm tightly. "Jake you need to snap out of this. Seriously, you are acting ridiculous." He stared up at me, his lips parted slightly.
"But why Dirk? Everyone is enjoying themselves. Just look at Jane and Roxy," He laughed and pointed to Roxy trying to grab someone's ass as Jane slapped her hand away, shaking her head. Jane looked up at the guys, smiling and waving at Dirk and Jake before turning back to Roxy who was at it again.
"Does this really look like fun? Jane is babysitting Roxy, and it's apparent I'm babysitting you," I muttered, pushing my shades up. "Hmm...I wonder," Jake said, tapping his cheek with his finger. "Wonder what?" I asked, raising my eyebrow at him. "What's behind the shades," One of his arms grabbed mine, pinning them behind me as he used the other to take off my shades. Why do people always have to do idiotic things when they are are drunk?
I shut my eyes before he could see. I growled at him, "Release me, Jake," I warned, as cold fingers began to pry at my arms. "Let him go Jake," I could hear Jane's southern drawl sounding from behind me.
Jake laughed and let me go, "I was just teasing him, but this mate can't take a joke apparently," He chuckled again, his voice getting quieter as if he was walking away. I groaned and ran a hand through my hair, "Jake I need my glasses," I growled lowly, trying to figure out where he was. Seriously, with everything going on right now, he thought it was okay to get drunk and pick a fight with me.
"Hmmm...no," He laughed again. "Jake!" Jane yelped. I opened my eyes quickly, looking in front of me. Jake snapped my shades in two. "Now mate, you can't hide your eyes behind them anymore," He said smugly, crossing his arms over his chest.
I closed the distance between us, pulling him close to my face. His eyes widened as he looked up into my eyes, "Dirk..." He whispered, going limp in my arms. "You crossed the line," I snapped, "and don't expect me to come back to you anymore. Don't ever talk to me, even when you are sober." I shoved him back as his eyes started to water.
"Dirk..." Jane grabbed my hand, trying to pull me back. "You don't mean that do you?" I didn't look down at her, just merely pulled my hand back. "I do mean it, don't let him ever come back around." I walked out the door, back to my car, and got in to drive home.
I looked in the rear view mirror, my bright orange eyes looking back at me. I sighed and drove off, back to the house. Why did he have to crack them? I mean...they were just glasses, but they had been with me for...years. Bro had got them for me years ago and told me never to lose them...
I got home quickly and slipped in, trying to rush past Bro. "Where are your glasses Dirk?" He questioned, his back turned to me. I didn't question how he knew. He always knew when something was up. "Jake broke them," I frowned, stuffing my hands into my pockets.
He sighed and looked over at me after a moment. "Well, it isn't the end of the world. I can have a new pair by the end of the week, don't sweat it kid." I nodded and walked back to my room. Wait...it was Saturday. Does he get that today IS the end of the week?
I shook my head and opened my door, taking in the room that I hadn't been home to in a few days. I looked at the robots arguing in the corner. "No, the code is 2-2-2-2," The littler robot stuttered before giving up.
I shook my head, "Night guys," I said before getting into bed. One friend down, one girlfriend down, who was next?
~~~~~~~~
I woke up to see Dave staring down at me. "Someone is here for you." I nodded and rubbed my eyes, sitting up. "Get out of my room, " I groaned, trying to wake up. "Yeah yeah..." He rolled his eyes and started to walk out. I got up and pushed past him, walking towards the living room.
"Hey Dirk?" He asked, grabbing my hand. "Yeah Dave?" I turned back to him. "You are gonna need these." He handed me a pair of shades that looked exactly like the old ones. I stared at them for a second before remembering last night's events. "Right..." I muttered, grabbing them.
I slipped them on and walked into the living room, stopping the moment I saw what was in front of me. I clenched my fists and spoke, "Out," I said, my voice filled with anger. Jake saw me and jumped up, rushing over. "Dirk I am so sorry, I was acting like an idiot last night." I tried to control myself, flexing my fists. "I said out," Jake flinched, trying again, "Dirk, please, I want to apologize for last night, I didn't ask you to come over just so I could hurt you. I know that you are going through pain because of Rae, and I was too and I just started to drink it all away...I shouldn't have, it was a bad idea." I went quiet, unsure of what to do now.
He looked at me for a moment before continuing on. "And I know that I broke your glasses, which was wrong. That entire party was bad. Jane and Roxy kicked everyone out moments after you left and then they left themselves. It doesn't take a genius to know that something was up. And I lost your shades somewhere in the bushes I think...or that's the last place I remember having them. But not that it matters because you have a new pair. And...I don't know. I just want us to be friends again." I forced myself to choke back a laugh. Does he really think that I will come running back to him like he is for me? Hell no.
I took a step towards him as he took a step back. "Did you really think I could forgive you in a day? You acted like a child. You got drunk to...to..forget? Really? And brought everyone down with you. You broke something that means a lot to me, that I have had for years, one of the few things that have sentimental value for me. And then you break it. Do you think I can forgive someone who was too selfish to even think about other people?" I snarled, taking another step forward.
"And if you think that coming back around to me is going to solve everything, then you have something else heading your way...I want you gone," I growled, pointing towards the door. His eyes were wide as he realized what I was saying. "I...fine" He sighed and walked towards the door. "Just remember that you said this..." He walked out of the apartment.
I groaned and walked back to my room. Who does he think he is?... I changed into a fresh pair of clothes and left the house. Where to?...the hospital of course.
