*Short chapter*
I diall Tray's number for the fourth time.
Voicemail.
WHERE IS HE???
I'm pacing in my room, back and forth. The clock on my night stand reads seven thirty and he isn't picking any of my goddamn calls. I groan and sit on the bed, facing the big mirror. Polly did an amazing job with my makeup and hair. She's tied my long black hair up in a messy yet neat bun and did a little extra with my face. I look like I'm heading to the MET Gala.
Back to Tray, Where could he be? Is he some kind of mad or something? Is it about what happened the last time I was in his house? I've been thinking about what happened and I've realized I'm stupid. Just the other day I was all over him, teasing and pressing myself to him and now I'm acting like a ten year old scared of everything!
Ugh!
Dad is out of town for two weeks, probably a business trip or something. I got this whole house for myself. I check the time, seven forty, twenty minutes and the dance will begin.
If Tray has decided to stand me up then that's FINE. I don't want him anyway. I gloss my lips and drop the makeup kit in my purse. I have a feeling I'll need retouching before I come home. I reach for my shiny black wedges and wear them.
I stare at the mirror again, a beautiful pink dress, beautiful hair and a glowing face. I grab my purse and head outside.

I walked to school. One, because it's close and two, I don't have cab money.
The dance is being held at the hall. It's decorated with disco and twinkle lights. Banners of red, blue, yellow and white hang down on each side of the walls. Coolers and food trays are placed at the corner.
Typical highschool dances.
" Hal," Someone calls from behind. Ken and Gabby walk towards me, hand in hand. A pang hits my stomach faintly at seeing their hands clasped in each others and I glance over to Ken hoping that maybe, just maybe Tray is behind him.
"Heeeey," Ken looks towards me, his eyes passing over me quickly.
"Where's Hal?" he asks, looking back at the crowd.
"Come on, Ken, I don't look that much different," I scoff and slightly touch my hair.
His eyes widened,
" Wow, Hal..." His eyes linger on me and I can't help but smile a little.
"You look so pretty..." Gabby tells me.
"Thank you." I roll my eyes and smile.
" Where's Tray?" I ask Ken as we walk back inside.
" I don't know. I've not seen him around. He said he'll come?"
I nod.
" Have you tried calling him?"
" Yes, but he's off."
Students and other invited people have already flooded around the school hall. Cars are parked all over the place and in an span of a half hour the place is full of people.
A glass of pineapple juice is pushed in my hand, I look up, Polly with her sweet Max. Her other hand is wrapped around his waist.
"Thanks," I sip the drink and cross my fingers.
I hope Tray is coming.
" Max. Hal. Hal. Max," She introduces us and I stick out my hand for a firm handshake. His smile is beaming and I glance over at Polly, she's looking at me. I can see the way he holds her, he looks nice enough. I give him a small nod and a smile. She grins from ear to ear, " Hal has been my best friend for years."
He chuckles, "So you're the famous Halsey...you look way to gorgeous to be the person Polly explains all the time."
" Really now?" I look at Polly and he nugdes him at the stomach.
"Let's go, Max." She says with a groan and sends me a flashed smile.
"Sorry," She mouths and I just chuckle and find a place to sit.
