TRAY
It's time to work out my plan.
I drive up to the address written on the piece of paper on my hand. Booking an appointment with this dealer was hard but I played my tricks on him.
The hall is ringed with long aisles of display booths, gun dealers all small and large, their wares displayed on the backlit walls.
I spot the booth I'm looking for along the back row.
M24 bolt-action sniper's rifle.
The owner is a rudy faced guy in a polo shirt with a mustache that looks like Post Malone's one. I walk up to him and scan the other guns behind him.
True beauty.
I grab one rifle that catches my eye and put my hand around the handle.
Nice!
I check the magazine and pull back the slide, feeling the action.
Light and smooth.
I thumb the slide release and gently squeeze the trigger.
Click.
This would do the trick.
The guy comes over and grins.
" Looking for something compact and reliable, that's a nice one you're holding."
" Yeah, I love it."
" Good for hunting, It sells faster around here.
" It's nice..." I set the gun down on the counter and look at the dealer in the eye.
" Reck told me you might be able to handle it for me. I was hoping to, I think you know...find my way around some regulations. I lost my ID and driver's license."
The dealer smiles a tight smile from underneath his mustache.
" I know Reck, a good friend of mine." He turns his back to the aisle.
" I assume we're talking cash?"
I shrug, " If that's possible."
He scratches his jaw and nods.
" How about eighty and you can take it with you as it is. No questions asked."
I pick up the gun and squeeze the trigger one more time.
" I'll take it." I reach into my pocket and bring out a load of cash.
" I'mma write you a receipt, just incase." The dealer says and bends under the cabinet.
He hands me the receipt and I walk out, my gun in hand.
