Sodapop and I sat on the hood of the truck watching the sun set. "This is perfect." Soda said softly, I kissed his cheek. "Yeah. It is." I rested my head on his shoulder, "We just made out and stuff but I gotta ask kourtney." I pulled away to look at him, "What?" He smiled, "Would you be my girl?" I smiled the biggest smile I've ever had. "Yes." I kissed him, "Yes of course I will." He grabbed my cheeks and kissed me but it was interrupted with the honk of a horn.
"Take this home lovebirds." It was the sheriff, I turned around quickly and got in the passnagee seat as soda talked with him. When soda got into the drivers seat I sighed, "Did he notice it was me?" "If he did, he didn't say anything." I sighed again, "You just said yes to being my girl... are we gunna have to keep it a secret like Darry and you?" I placed my hand on sodas cheek and rubbed my thumb against it gently. "No. I just don't want someone else telling Darry before we do." "Yeah... that's one hell of a conversation we gotta have." "Yeah, I don't think it will go very well."
"Fuck you and Fuck you to!" Darry yelled as he punched the brick wall of the backyard after soda and I told him. "Darry please. Calm down." "No! Your leaving me for my younger brother kourtney I won't calm down!" Anger boiled inside of me, "I'm leaving you because you've driven me to no other solution! You've shown me over and over again that I can't trust you like I could before." He scoffed, "All because I tried to save your life-" "It's more then just you sleeping with Rebecca Darry! It's the countless times you've lashed out and hit me, and the things you've done behind my back, you've lost my trust dare, and I can't be with somebody I don't trust." "So you go off with my brother?" "I've had feelings for him for awhile now, they just haven't been clear till now." Darry sighed, "I love you kourtney. Please." He rubbed his bloody hand through my hair. "Don't leave me." I couldn't help but cry, "I'm so sorry dare... I just can't be with you anymore." I pulled his hand away from me, "I will always love you no matter what, don't forget that." I turned around and saw soda with guilt in his eyes. "You can't blame soda for this Darry. It's my choice." "Kourtney." Darry grabbed my arm I winced softly, Darry pulled away and rolled up my long sleeve shirt to reveal bruises. "What... What are these?" I pushed him away and pulled down my shirt, "Like I said Darry. You lost my trust." I practically ran into the house as I wipped my tears.
I sat on my bed with my sleeve rolled up as I looked at my bruised arm. It's not the first time this has happened.
Flash backs~
"Do you know how unprotected this hospital is?! You'd be saver at the park!" "I'm here for Dally. Nothing is going to change my mind!" "Just- Just come with me!" He grabbed my forearm. "No! I have to be here with Dally!" "Kourtney! Just fucking come!" He held onto me tighter. "No darrel I'm not!" "Why are you so stubborn!" He held onto me tighter as he spoke, "I'm just trying to keep you safe! Dallys a man he can take care of him self!" "Your hurting me dare." "I mean he's been in more fights then I can count! He would kick anyone's ass who even looked at him weirdly!" "Let go! Your hurting me!" His eyes widened as he let go of me, later that night as Dallas fell asleep three bruises formed."You fight like an old married couple." Sodapop said to Darry and i as we fought over his drunkness, "I doubt we'll make it that long." Darry said, I scuffed as tears almost fell from my eyes. "I'm going to pretend you didn't say that because I know it's just the alcohol." "Sure." "Darrel. You love me and I love you, your just saying this stuff because of- agh!" Darrel slapped me making me fall to the floor. I hit my head on the coffee table and that's the last thing I remember before darkness took over, I woke up later with stitches on the side of my head.
Flashbacks over~
"Kourtney." I looked over through my tears and saw Darry. "Hey." I said softly and pulled down my sleeve. He walked over and sat on the bed next to me woth a sigh, "I'm sorry I hurt you." I siffled, "It's okay." "No its not." He took a deep breath, "I laid my hand on you, No wonder your leaving me." I wrapped my arm around his shoulders and laid my head on the closest one. "I'm not leaving you Darry. I'm right hear." He kissed my hair and then rested his head gently on mine. "I'm so sorry." He said softly, I smiled. "I'm sorry to Darry." "If I can ask. When did you fall in love with him?" I pulled away from him and smiled, "It... it wasn't a specific moment. It was slow, every moment I spent with him just added up, but I choose not to see it because I was with you."
