The day of the trial came quicker than I expected. Lauren and I spent the past few weeks talking to her attorney and discussing how we were going to go about this case.

The attorney's name was Billie Eilish, and an awfully young one at that. But she was extremely talented despite not having participated in too many cases.

Lauren and Billie were apparently good friends back in elementary and middle school. They went their separate ways since Lauren reached high school first, and didn't really keep in touch.

Billie was almost twenty now, becoming a lawyer at the astounding age of eighteen. She's known worldwide as one of the youngest people to ever get called to the bar.

So naturally, Lauren called her up and since we pretty much had this case in the bag, she figured it would also be a good time to reunite with an old friend.

"Remember," Billie told us at one of our meetings. "She's gotta prove her own innocence, or plea guilty. We've got the evidence, so all we gotta do is sit back and watch the fireworks."

I was nervous anyway. How could I not be?

What if we had a judge that proved to be a dickhead? Or a jury that couldn't make the obvious choice as to whether Lucy was guilty or not?

Despite the fact that we had video proof of the poisoning and the harassment, I was as anxious as ever.

By the time we were in the court room, I felt like I was finally mentally prepared.

I blocked out everything happening on social media after Lauren and I came out since I saw so many mixed opinions. I didn't have the mental capacity to deal with that just yet.

We hadn't even talked to our management team at all, and they kept blowing up our phones for days.

The trial went by quick in theory, but it honestly felt like a million years passed before the final verdict was reached.

Lucy's attorney called up a few people to attest against us, but his efforts seemed to be futile.

"People of the jury, the court," Billie began in her final address. "I believe you need no further explanation than the details my client has provided about her past relations with Miss Vives and the video evidence provided by the bar. This video alone proves that there is a secret vendetta the defendant has against my client."

"Objection, your honor." Lucy's attorney spoke up.

"Overruled." the judge shot back. "This woman has shown the proper evidence, there is no need to—"

"If so, there should be no issue in allowing me to make one final point before the jury makes a decision."

The judge sighed at this. "Fine. Let's hear it, then."

I looked at Lauren confusedly, and she returned the look.

What more could this guy possibly need to say?

"The plaintiff, Lauren Jauregui, has been a controversial figure these past few years, need I remind you all." Lucy's attorney said. "She has charged with possession of marijuana, and has been found to be an alcoholic. The latter has been attested to by my client. You can obviously tell in the video evidence that she is, in fact, very drunk and—"

"Your point?" Billie butted in. "That should not disregard anyone from the fact that your client had the malicious intention of killing my client!"

"Order! Order!" The judge yelled while slamming his gavel down several times. "Sir, what are you trying to get across to the jury, exactly?"

"That the plaintiff herself is in no shape or state of mind to be shown any pity towards in this situation." Lucy's attorney proclaimed. "She believes she is above the law. She has gotten away with her drug and alcohol charges before, and should not be allowed to do so again!"
