I took a deep breath.
My nerves were starting to get to me. I almost didn't want to ring the doorbell.
Camila must've sensed this, because she took one of my hands in hers and began to rub circles into it with her thumb.
"Lo, baby. Look at me."
I glanced towards her cautiously.
"You can do this. I'm right here, okay? If anything bad happens, I'm your shoulder to lean on."
She pulled me in for a kiss, to which I happily obliged and kissed back.
Just as I was about to run my tongue along her mouth to ask for access, she pulled away and giggled a bit.
"We can make out later. We're literally in front of the door to your mom's house. This comes first."
I pouted. "Camz..."
"Ugh, I hate it when you make that face." Camila sighed. "C'mere."
I grinned as she pulled me in once again for another long kiss.
After that, I turned towards the door, and then finally proceeded to ring the doorbell.
We waited for a moment before I heard the door unlock, and I saw a person opening it from the other side.
Revealed to me was an older woman, who I could tell was my mother.
She was just as I remembered, only she had aged since the last time I saw her, and had more wrinkles.
But it was definitely her. Nonetheless, she was still just as pretty as before.
"Clara." I said, taking in the sight of her. "Long time no see."
"Lauren..." she replied. "I didn't—I wasn't expecting you at all. My, how you've grown."
"Nice to know you recognized me right away." I mused. "It's been like, just about twenty years."
She shrugged. "I've seen pictures of you on the internet. Followed your Instagram. And besides, even without all of that I still would've known it was you. Those eyes of yours are not to be mistaken for anyone else's."
"Who's this?" She nodded her head towards Camila.
"My girlfriend, Camila." I told her. "Moral support, because I honestly didn't think I'd have the courage to be standing here in front of you. I have so many questions."
My mother sighed. "I remember hearing about Camila now. I think I saw a few articles speculating that you two were dating. You know how people can be nosy."
We both blushed slightly, mostly because we didn't really think about the fact that the internet was already blown up with theories of us being together.
Which, at this point, technically weren't theories at all.
"It's nice to meet you, Camila. As long as you make my daughter happy, I'm happy."
"Thank you." Camila replied. "That means a lot to the both of us."
Clara smiled. "Why don't you two come in? I can answer some of those questions you said you have, Lauren."
"Okay." I answered.
With that, we followed her inside. She led us to the living room, and told us to make ourselves comfortable.
