Jinyoung sat down on a bench outside after he angrily left his dorm room, folding his arms over his chest while watching the same old student’s commute through the campus. He was annoyed and tired of everything. He hated the school, hated his roommate, hated his damn family for paying all that money to send him to some dumb private school for boys. He hated it all, yet couldn’t do anything but deal with it, which is what sucked the most.

He often spent his days just wandering around campus, avoiding anything and everything that could possibly tick him off. The last thing he wanted to do was stress himself out more over some dumb altercation, he was just focused on passing his classes and getting the hell out of there, which he wasn’t even doing too well with anyway.

Though there was one thing that had been quite difficult to avoid for the past two years, and Jinyoung had no idea why or how it kept finding him, but that was also beginning to get on his nerves.

“You okay?” A voice asked, startling Jinyoung's brooding thoughts. He whipped his head around, cursing to himself as the thing he found hardest to avoid took a seat right next to him.

“Ah, J-Jaebum, yeah I’m good…” Jinyoung stuttered out, clearing his throat of the initial surprise that came with Jaebum’s appearance.

Jinyoung always ended up in shambles whenever Jaebum came around. It was extremely embarrassing, and he didn’t know exactly why he turned into such a bumbling idiot around that particular classmate, but it was goddamn irritating to be turned into such a dumbass in front of someone so admirably good and smart. Sure he’s had some thoughts and inklings about how he felt towards Jaebum, but he pushed them all to the side since it was just too confusing to figure out. It felt worse though when those confusing feelings reared their ugly heads every time he found himself around Jaebum, his chest bubbling up with different emotions he never had the patience to sort out.

Jaebum wore a small smile, his teeth gleaming a pure white that Jinyoung stared at for a prolonged amount of time, probably way longer than he should. “Looks like I scared you. Sorry, were you thinking about something?”

Jinyoung shrugged, adjusting his position on the bench. He scooted just a centimeter or so away from Jaebum, but hopefully it went unnoticed. “I-I was, but it’s not important…”

“Oh okay. You looked a bit upset, so I wanted to check on you.” Jaebum stated, his teeth now hiding behind a closed lipped smile as he rested his hand on Jinyoung's shoulder.

Jinyoung stared down at the floor, watching an ant crawl across his shoes while internally despising the fact that Jaebum was a damn sweetheart. He hated the feeling of actually being cared about, which unfortunately Jaebum did more often than he should. Jinyoung honestly just wanted to be left alone, he didn’t want to form bonds with the people around him, he just wanted to finish school and get as far away from that place as possible. But of course, the person sitting next to him had to constantly fuck all that up.

That didn't mean he couldn't at least try to escape the incoming friendliness and kind attitude that Jaebum carried with him everywhere he went. “Oh I’m fine, um... I gotta go now, so…”

Jinyoung gave a quick tug on his bag over his shoulders and lifted himself off the bench, practically feeling Jaebum’s eyes following him as he started to walk off. He unfortunately had only made it a few feet away before the elder was calling after him. Jaebum rarely ever allowed Jinyoung to run too far away from him before reeling him back in. “Hey. Why don’t we hang out? I know we only talk during music and biology, but I’d love to maybe talk elsewhere? Outside of class, obviously.”

Jinyoung paused in his tracks, slowly turning back to face the other. Staring at the annoyingly amiable expression Jaebum wore only made it harder to respond. His initial answer would be ‘no’ but some stupid part of him wanted to say ‘yes’ for some reason.
