Yugyeom, BamBam, and Youngjae were gathered outside in the large grassy field on campus, taking shade by a tree that they often hung out near. The large oak tree was often their meeting place after class since the three were practically inseparable; if one is seen then it's almost guaranteed that the other two are nearby.

Yugyeom had been going on about how lucky he was to have passed a recent English exam when he caught eye of Jinyoung quickly heading towards the dorm building. He tapped Youngjae and BamBam’s shoulders, pointing to the man who seemed to be in a hurry.

“Look, there he goes!” He exclaimed, attracting attention to Jinyoung who at the moment desperately wanted none of it.

“I’ll go get him!” Youngjae stated, rushing off towards Jinyoung who was too deep in thought to even pay much mind to them.

The three obviously weren't too good at reading situations, and none of them picked up on the fact that Jinyoung wanted to be left alone. The latter had thought that shoving earphones into his ears would at least give the illusion that he didn't want to be bothered, but some people just couldn't take hints easily.

“Jinyoung!” Youngjae called out, waving him down to a stop.

Jinyoung slowed, a long sigh escaping him as his path to the dorm building was blocked off by an over excited underclassmen. His eyes darted past Youngjae at the dorm building just a few feet behind him, the craving to be alone stronger than ever. He tried to step past the younger, flashing an unbelievable apologetic smile. “Sorry, not right now Youngjae…”

Jinyoung's path was blocked again, with Youngjae stepping in the way. The younger reached out and gripped his wrist, tightly clamping onto him as if his hands were shackles. “We need you for just a sec, please?”

The tight hold on his wrist was a clear sign that Youngjae wasn't gonna let him have a choice. He really wanted no part of whatever the hell he was about to be dragged into, he'd already got his social draining for the day. “Youngjae I-...”

“Come on, Bam and Yugyeom are this way!” Youngjae shouted, blatantly ignoring Jinyoung's denials and tugging him over to the tree where the others waited.

“Guys I really don’t know what you want with me and frankly I don't care…” Jinyoung mumbled, looking amongst the three who stood excitedly before him.

“We’re planning a surprise for Jackson, we need to know what he’s into nowadays.” BamBam explained, looking at Jinyoung expectantly for a suggestion.

“Jackson? Why?” Jinyoung questioned, his distaste for his roommate showing in the disgusted expression that decorated his face. He wasn’t one to hide how he felt when it came to the people he despised, Jackson being the last person he'd ever hold back on.

“His birthday is soon… don’t you know?” Yugyeom asked, taken aback that Jinyoung seemed to have no idea despite living with the guy for over two years now.

“God I’m about tired of hearing of that fucking idiot today.” Jinyoung groaned with the roll of his eyes.

The three boys looked at each other, a silent conversation occurring between them before Youngjae spoke. “Well… we thought since you were his roommate, you’d know what he’d be recently into.”

Jinyoung scoffed as the last thing he’d concern himself with was whatever Jackson was into. He barely paid much attention to anyone in general, how cold they expect him to give even a second thought to that daily pain in the ass. “I don’t know, I barely pay him any attention. I’m not involved with his birthday anyway, and I really don’t want to be.”
