Emily's Pov

"Miss. Reynolds is coming at two for her dress fitting. Miss. Morris is coming at four to talk to you about the design, and at six, you have a meeting with Sarah," Amanda said as she looked down at my schedule for the day.

"When do I have time off?" I asked as I filled out the last paperwork for the day.

"Right now. You have two hours before Miss. Reynold will be here," Amanda said as I handed her all the work.

"Okay, that would be all," I said as I dismissed her.

"And Miss. Jenkins called," she said, and I immediately gazed up to her from where I was sitting.

"What did she want?" I asked as I quiet groan escaped my lips.

"She said something about a blind date? Tonight at....eight?" She said, but it was more of a question.

"Just call her back and tell her that I have a busy day and won't be able to attend this blind date," I said as I stood up from my chair and straightened out my skirt.

"Is there anything else you need?" She asked, and I just shook my head as I grabbed my purse and headed towards the door.

"Let me know if anything else comes up," I said as I walked out of the shop and towards my car.

As I drove past a few restaurants with the radio blaring 'Animals,' I couldn't help but stop at the new, crowded restaurant.

I quickly got a parking spot and got out of my car before heading towards the entrance. I looked around, and the place was crowded.

"Good afternoon, ma'am. Table for one?" a woman probably a few years older than me asks.

"Yes, please," I mumbled as she leads me to an empty table.

"Can I get you something to drink?" She asks as I look at the menu.

"A strawberry milkshake, please," I said as I gave her a smile, which she returned before jotting down my order and walking away.

I sighed as I pulled my cellphone from my purse and checking my messages. I groaned when I saw ten messages from Val- all of them being about the blind date tonight.

"Here you go. Can I get you anything to eat?" The waitress asks as I looked up at her.

"Just a salad with dressing on the side," I said. She nodded her head before writing down my order and walking away.

I looked through my schedule Amanda has sent me and sighed. Miss. Reynolds or the soon to be Mrs. Carter is a new customer of mine. She had heard of me at some wedding where everyone had complimented the wedding dress I designed.

Miss. Morris or the soon to be Mrs. Lewis is honestly a handful. She has been nothing but annoying. Every time she meets me, she always has a new idea for her dress. Last week she wanted me to design her dress with actual butterflies.

I groaned as I put my phone down on the table. I looked around the restaurant at all the people here. There was an elderly couple just a few tables away from mine.

The lady was trying to get the young boy to sit still while her husband was laughing slightly.

I looked to my left and saw a table with a woman and a man and a little girl probably six or seven years old.

I sighed as I looked down at my hands that laid in my lap.

"Here you go, ma'am. Can I get you anything else?" the waitress asks. I looked down at my full glass of milkshake and just shook my head.

*************

I struggled to keep my eyes open as I drove to my house.

Today has been such a long day, and all I want to do now is take a long, hot bubble bath and sleep.

I couldn't be happier when I finally reached my house, but a groan escaped my lips when I saw Val's car in the driveway.

I slowly got out of my car and headed towards Val's car, but she wasn't there. I sighed as I made my way to the front door, searching for my keys on my way there.

I frantically searched for my keys, but I couldn't find it. My head immediately snapped up when I heard the front door open to reveal a very enthusiastic looking Val.

"How did you get into my house?" I exclaimed as I walked past her over to my couch before collapsing on it.

"I asked Amanda to get it for me. Besides, there's no time for relaxing, Em. You have a date to attend to," she said as she pulled me off of the couch and started dragging me upstairs.

"Why bother, Val? You know how I feel about dating," I said as she pushed me onto the bed, making me almost fall off in the process.

"Come on, Em. What happened between you and that guy is in the past. Its been three years, and I haven't even once seen you with a man," she said as she searched through my closet.

"Val, you know this blind date is just going to end like all the others did," I said as she finally pulled out a dress.

"Live a little, Em. You're twenty-two years old. Your beautiful, and you can get any guy you want," she said as she took a seat beside me.

"I don't have time for relationships, Val," I said as I started playing with the hem of my skirt.

"You are way to mature for your age," she mumbled before pulling me up from my bed and pushing me into the bathroom.

"We have just a little over an hour, so hurry up," she exclaimed as she shut the door behind me.

*********

I patted down my myself as Val showed me which guy was my blind date.

This restaurant was the exact place I was at earlier today.

"Good luck," Val whispered as she got back into her car and drove off.

I slowly made my way into the restaurant to be greeted by the hostess.

"Can I help you?" She asked in a fake friendly tone as she blew a bubble with her gum.

"My date's already inside," I said and watched how she waves me off.

I slowly made my way over to the table Val has pointed to and just awkwardly stood there, shifting from one foot to another.

I guess the guy noticed that there was another presence because his head suddenly snapped up towards me and away from his phone.

"You must be, Emily. Wow, when Valerie said you were beautiful, she wasn't kidding," he said as he grinned at me.

I looked around the restaurant and slowly took a seat in front of him."Oh, I'm sorry. My name is Nate."
