Emily's Pov
The silence was killing me as my head rested against the car window. For the past few minutes, I have been staring at nothing other than the raindrops that poured out of the sky. It was practically raining cats and dogs.
You see, a few minutes before Luke had finally shown up, it started raining. Not much, but not a little.
The rain seemed to pour more and more as we drove back to my house. There were almost no cars, and when there were, they were driving extra slow just because you could barely see anything, and the vehicles would slip on the wet road.
Even though I called Luke to come to pick me up, I couldn't help but shake away that dream I had. The strange thing is that I wished that dream was a reality.
Even though Zander and I are dating, I know I still have a strong feeling for Luke, and nothing is going to change that.
"So, why couldn't your boyfriend take you home?" Luke asked, breaking the uncomfortable silence that we were in.
"He was busy," I mumbled softly as I kept my gaze out the window.
Yeah, busy flirting with the waitress.
"With what?" Luke asked, curiosity evidence in his
voice.I swallowed the huge lump that had formed in my throat as I slowly turned my head to look at Luke. I saw him glancing at me from the corner of his eye before immediately looking back at the road.
I kept quiet, ignoring the answer completely as I watch him turn into my street before slowly driving up my driveway.
I sat there for a little while, not wanting to get out of the car, but I guess I have to eventually.
"Do you wanna come in?" I suddenly asked my eyes growing wide at the question that had just left my lips.
I watched as he turned his head towards me, his eyes full of different emotions as his eyes gaze over my face as if he's trying to look for something.
"You don't have to if you don't want to," I said as I wiped my sweaty palms on my shorts.
"I'd like that," he said softly, a smile forming on those perfect, kissable lips.
Who stop right there.
I nodded my head and slowly opened the door and climbed out. The heavy rain was hitting my back rather harshly as I carefully closed the car door.
I hurriedly ran up to my front porch, Luke's heavy footsteps echoing behind me. I quickly scurried through my handbag and grabbed my keys before unlocking the door and practically running inside.
I wrapped my arms around my torso as I stood in the foyer, engulfing the warmth that the house provided. I watched as Luke closed the door behind him, a broad grin on his face.
"That was accelerating," he said as he hunched over and also wrapped his arms around himself.
"What, the fact that we are soaking wet and had to run in the rain?" I asked with a smile on my lips as he just nodded his head. "You're so weird," I mumbled as I slightly pushed his with my elbow.
"I'm taking that as a compliment," he stated, causing me to giggle slightly.
"Do you want to take a shower?" I asked as I looked at how much he was shivering.
"No, I don't want to intrude," he said, and I just scoffed.
"You drove me home, Luke. If you hadn't done that, I would have had to walk home in the rain, so the least I can do is let you take a shower," I said as my teeth clattered together.
