Emily's Pov
Luke and I are watching some movie that's on TV. His head's in my lap, and I'm running my fingers through his hair. I've been out of the hospital for a few weeks now. Ever since that day at the hospital, well, things are perfect.
Flashback:
His hands-on my hips, my arms wrapped around his neck... it just felt... right. I missed this for sure. Our lips in sync. The cold tile bathroom wall is pressed against my back. It is him and me, and we are meant to be. No more kid stuff. This is real life.
He pulls away first and lets in a breathe. Did we kiss for that long? I keep my eyes closed as I bite my lip, reliving that moment over and over again in my head. I open my eyes to see him right in front of me and smiling like an idiot. I smile back at him, not because I felt I had to, but because I was generally happy that that had happened. I'm accepting my feelings for the first time in how long and I feel like a million weights have been lifted off my shoulders.
Luke walks over to me, and I notice the shirt in his hands. He tells me to raise my arms, and I quickly do while he slips it over my body. He quickly gets the pants and bends downs to put the opening near my feet to step in. I hold onto his shoulders and step in wincing as I move my leg up slowly off the floor. He pulls them all the way and lets me buckle them.
"Do you think you can walk?" he asks me. I nod and take slow steps to the door. Luke still stays close behind me, in case I fall. We walk out, and Val and Kyle are still sitting there hand in hand, her head on his shoulder, snoring softly.
"Oh, hey, guys. She fell asleep when you guys went in. She hasn't slept well since we heard you were in the hospital." Kyle whispers to us. I nod my head and smile softly. "I'm going to take her home. I'll see you guys later. Get better soon, Em." he says to me.
"Tell her I said to call me when she wakes up okay?" he nods his head at me, picks her up bridal style, and walks out of the room.
"Well..." Luke says. I smile and shake my head. He's adorably awkward.
"Let's get out of here," I say, and he takes my hand in his while going to the front desk to sign the release papers.
End of Flashback
"Luke, what are we doing today?" I ask him, still looking at the TV.
"Well, I did have something in mind, but you will have to wait for about a day." he smiles, and I look down at him. I smile and shake my head at him.
"You're crazy," I say, laughing.
"Crazy for you." he winks at me. He sits up, and we laugh together. I take his face in my hands and trace over his cheekbones while he closes his eyes. I smile and press my lips to his quickly. When I come back up, he's frowning at me.
"That's all I get?" he pouts. I bite my lip and shake my head no. He grabs my face, gently, kissing me slowly. This is was different from everything we have ever done. This wasn't some high school relationship kiss, no this was real.
I've missed this. Everything. I forgive him for everything he's done. I'm done being a wimp about my feelings and not admitting them. I feel stronger than ever with him. I can't lose him. Not when I just got him back.
"Hey, what's wrong, Em?" He says, wiping my face. I hadn't realized I was crying.
"N-nothing... I'm fine. I'm just happy to have you back in my life. I'm sorry I've been putting this all to the side when, in reality, this is what I've needed the entire time," I say, still tearing up a bit. He kisses my tears on both sides of my face and looks me straight in the eyes.
"I've missed you more than you know. I've waited forever to see you again. When I first saw you since college, I knew I still loved you despite what happened. I didn't know if you felt the same way. But I'm glad I have you. Right here. Right now." He smiles at me once more, and I kiss him right then and there.
I can't even explain how lucky I am to have him.
