Emily's Pov

"Are you sure you can't come?" Valerie desperately asked over the phone as I continued with my paperwork.

"I'm sure. I still have a lot of work to do," I lied.

"Oh," she mumbled softly. "Is everything okay?" She suddenly asked as my eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

"Yeah, everything's fine. Why?" I asked, hearing a sigh from her side.

"Its just......you've been so distant lately. You barely hang out with us anymore, and I'll be leaving for my honeymoon in just over a month," she said sadly, and I could feel my heart tighten in my chest.

"I'm sorry. I've just been so cramped with work lately. Maybe we could have a girl's night tonight?" I asked.

"Yes, definitely," she exclaimed, causing me to laugh a little at how excited she was. "I'll be there at seven," she said, causing me to scoff.

"Yeah, okay. I'll see you later," I said as I hung up the phone just when Zander stepped into my office.

"Hey, babe," he said as I stood up to hug him.

"Hey," I said softly as I wrapped my arms around his neck, his arms around my waist as he leaned in and placed a sweet kiss on my lips.

"I see you're still cramped up in work," he said as he eyed the papers that were scattered around my desk.

"Nope, I just finished," I said, causing a grin to appear on his face.

"So, you're free right now?" He asked as he raised an eyebrow at me, causing me to giggle slightly before nodding my head.

"Yeah, but just for a little while, then I have to go back home because Valerie would be coming over for a girl's night," I said, causing him to chuckle.

"Aren't you guys a little old for that?" He asked. I playfully rolled my eyes.

"Yeah, kinda. But I've been avoiding her for the past few weeks, so I owe it to her," I said, causing him to furrow his eyebrows at me.

"Why have you been avoiding her. She your best friend," he said.

"I know, but every time she says that she wants to hang out with me, she always invites Kyle and Luke with her" And after that dream I had, I didn't want to even be near him.

"I get it, but at least you'll have tonight," he said as he pulled a loose strand of hair behind my ear.

"I guess, but right now, I could go for a cup of coffee," I said, causing a broad smile to appear on his face.

"Alright, my fair lady. Let's go," he said as his hand slid down my arm and grabbed my hand before pulling me with him.

As we pass my office chair, I quickly grabbed my handbag and slung it over my shoulder.

"Amanda, could you please lock up when you leave?" I asked as I stopped in front of her.

"Of course. Enjoy your day," she said with a smile on her face, which I gladly returned before turning around and following Zander towards his car.

"So, where are we going?" I asked as I stared out the window at the trees that were passing by.

"I was thinking about Roxy's," he said, and a huge smile formed on my face.

"I love that place. They serve the absolute best chocolate cake," I said with excitement in my voice, causing Zander to chuckle slightly.

"And what can I get for you?" The waitress sneered as she stared at me, coldly.
