Emily's Pov
I slowly peel my eyes open and look at the arm draped over me. I then realize the events that had occurred last night. I smile slightly as I look up at Luke's sleeping features. His lips are parted slightly. I reach up, carefully not to wake him, and brush his lower lip with my thumb. I then drag my fingers to his stubble. He's grown up so much. I look back at his lips, and they're smirking.
"Having fun there?" he asks. A blush takes over my face as I look at his chest. He takes my chin and tips it up to make me look at him. "Don't hide it. It's cute," he says, smiling at me. Before I'm able even to comprehend what he said to me, he's leaning in slowly. Too slowly for my liking. We're still in the awkward position that we slept in, his grip tightening on my waist.
"Luke..." I say, trailing off. He shushes me and keeps leaning in. Right before his lips touch mine, my phone rings loudly. I jump as the ringer scared the shit out of me, making me fall to the floor with a thud. I quickly scramble to my feet and pick up my phone, answering it.
"Hello?"
"EMILY!" I automatically know its Valerie.
"Yes, Val?" I say you could get hear the tired in my voice. I rub my eyes at the thought.
"Oh my gosh, were you asleep?"
"No, I'm awake now. What's up?"
"Kyle and I were gonna go to the beach and wanted to know if you wanted to go?" she says hopefully.
"Yeah, sure. When and who's going?" I ask, going into the kitchen and sitting on the counter.
"Around maybe noonish? And Kyle, me, you, and Luke since Kyle wants him to go. We'll pick you up."
"Alright, I'll see you when you get here."
"Bye," she says, and I hang up. I decide to sit in the kitchen for a little before going into the living room. I seriously need to think about what just happened in there. I wanted it to happen, but I didn't at the same time. I can't think about this now. I walk into the living room and see Luke on his phone.
"So, are you going to the beach?" I asked him from the entry of the kitchen.
"Yeah, I'm gonna run over to my place and get ready," he replies, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Alright. Do you want something before you go?" I'm hoping it a kiss, but this is reality. Not a fairytale. I need to keep my mind straight. He shakes his head and smiles slightly.
"No, I'm good, is there anything you would like Emily," he smirks. Oh gosh. Does he know I want him to kiss me? I quickly look at the floor before croaking out a quiet no. "Are you sure?" and before I know it, he's walking towards me looking deep into my eyes.
"Yes, Luke, I'm fine, thank you," I say. I'm surprised by how brave I sounded when I said that. I notice he's still in the clothes I gave him last night. "I'm going to get your clothes from the dryer. Be right back." I run out of the room and retrieve his clothes from the dryer. I quickly walk back into the living room, and he has his keys in hand and sitting on the couch. I then look at the time, and it's 11:00. Shit. Valerie and Kyle will be here in an hour. I give him the clothes and him thanks me before saying he should head out.
I saw him out, but before he turned around to leave, he pulled me to him and hovered his lips over mine.
"You know, you sure did seem like you wanted to kiss me. You think aloud," he smirks before turning around and heading towards his car and driving off. I'm so out of it when I walk back inside. He heard everything I was thinking. He probably thinks I'm so weird... I scold myself and go up to my room to get ready.
