Luke's Pov

I sighed as I got out of my car at the studio we were supposed to be at.

Slowly, I made my way over to the double door before pushing them open and stepping in.

My eyes wandered around until they landed on Val's face- who was talking to another woman who's back was facing me.

"Luke, my man. So glad you could join us," I heard Kyle exclaimed, making me advert my gaze to him.

"Hey," I said as I approached him on the other side of the studio.

"Welcome, welcome." I heard someone with a Spanish accent say. "I am Zander, and these are your instructors for the day," the guy- Zander announced.

"Okay, first, we will start with the salsa," he said as he motioned for the other instructors to stan by him.

"You will all be guided by one of us," he said while nodding his head towards all of us, indicating that the instructors should pick a partner.

I watched as a woman, probably in her late twenties, walk over to me.

**********

The whole time we were dancing, I couldn't keep my eyes off of Emily and Zander. The way his hand rested on her lower back. The way they looked into each other's eyes.

I could feel my grip tighten on Laura as I watch Emily lift her leg to Zander's thigh and bend backward.

Even though we haven't seen each other in years, I haven't even once thought about being with someone else. Those days I spent alone at college, I would always wish she was there next to me.

Everything always reminded me of her. The ways I would still smell apples would remind me of her hair. The way I would remember her due to the smell of flowers would remind me of her scent.

The ways I would remember her winning a teddy bear for herself when I walk past the carnival.

My thoughts were suddenly interrupted by a loud thud. I looked around to see where the noise came from, and finally, my eyes landed on Laura that was sitting on the ground, rubbing the back of her head.

"God, I'm so sorry," I said as I held my hand out for her to grab, which she did.

"I think I'm going to take a break for a minute," she mumbled as she walked over to the water stand.

"Geez, man. What happened?" Kyle asked, placing a hand on my shoulder.

I just shrugged my shoulders and walked over to the water bottle that was laid on a chair just a few feet away from me.

"What's wrong?" Kyle asked as I gulped down half of my water before putting the cap back on and throwing the bottle onto the chair it was on before.

"Its nothing," I mumbled as my eyes slowly moved over to Emily, who was sat on a chair with her phone in her hand.

"Do you know her?" Kyle asked, making me snap my head up towards him to see him glancing over at Emily and back at me.

I sighed as I slowly nodded my head, moving my gaze back over to Emily.

"How?" He asked with furrowed eyebrows as I looked back at him.

"She's the girl I've been talking about," I started, making his mouth fall agape at my words.

"Are you sure?" He asked, and I just nodded my head. "Wow, never would have thought she would've been as fun as you had described her," he muttered loud enough for me to hear.

I couldn't help but chuckle a little as he walked over to Valerie, wrapping his arms around her from behind.

"Okay. Everyone grab a partner, its time for the waltz," Zander exclaimed as he walked over to Emily, but this time, I wouldn't let him.

Before I knew it, my feet dragged me across the room before Zander had the chance to get there.

"Care to be my partner?" I asked, making Emily's head shot up at my voice.

I could easily see the way she gulped as she hesitantly took my hand before standing up.

I pulled her along with me, smirking at Zander, who was standing there with an annoyed expression on his face.

I turned around in the middle of the studio and wrapped the hand that wasn't holding on to Emily's around her back before pulling her closer to me.

I could practically feel her heartbeat at the closeness of the two of us. As the music started filling the room, I started moving my feet- Emily following my actions.

"I'm Luke, by the way," I whispered into her ear, causing her to stop her movement and pull away from me.

"I....know?" She said but more in the form of a question.

"And you are?" I asked with a small smile on my lips as I watched her eyebrows crush together in confusion.

"Emily?" She said again in the form of a question.
I grinned, looking down at her confused face. "I'm just kidding, Emily. But I do think we should start fresh," I stated.

"Oh," she mumbled. "I don't think that's a good idea," she said, and I could feel my stomach drop.

"Why?" I asked softly as I looked into her blue eyes.
"Because of what you did," she said before lowly before pulling out of my grip walking away, but soon I caught her wrist and spun her back around to face me.

"What did I do?" I asked, confused.

"Nevermind. I have to go," she said as she started pulling her arm, trying to get her wrists out of my grasp.

"Where?" I asked softly as I watched the annoyance on her face.

"Work," she said firmly before finally pulling her wrist free and stalking off to Valerie and whispered something in her ear.

I could see Valerie let out a sigh before nodding. Emily looked back at me for a second before grabbing her stuff from the chair they laid on and storming out of the studio.
