"Oh hi honey." Sam greets me with a kiss on the cheek before taking the bottle of wine from my hand and skipping to the kitchen, with me hobbling close behind. I can't wait to have this stupid brace off.

"Hi darling." Jared gives me a hug and a kiss on the cheek in greeting, just like his wife. "Blake is getting ready, he'll be here soon." He informs me with a knowing smile, which I return before joining Sam in the kitchen to help get the food ready.

Cooking the dinner with Sam helps me take my mind off from what I've seen on the way here. I don't want that to ruin my evening.

"I wasn't able to tell you this before, but your house is gorgeous." Sam gushes as we cut up the veggies, making me smile. Since I decided to keep my house when Blake and I moved to Berkeley, Sam offered to help with keeping it clean, knowing well I wouldn't trust a stranger to go through my house on a regular basis while I'm 2000 miles away.

I felt quite weird about having my boyfriend's mom cleaning my house once a week, but she assured me it's not a big deal, since "we're basically family at this point". So I gave in.

Due to my injuries and Sam's busy schedule, this is our first time seeing each other for longer than a quick check-up. Last time we were supposed to have a dinner together, she got called into work for an emergency surgery, so we didn't even meet.

"Thank you. I chose everything myself. I wanted to have a place that would fit my taste."

"I always wanted to have a small, cozy place, but Jared inherited this mansion from his parents, who got it from their parents, so I really had no say in it. You know, family tradition and all." She laughs.

"I totally get it. If you want a quiet outing with your husband, we can arrange an exchange." I nudge her with my shoulder, winking.

Sam laughs, returning the nudge, giving me knowing look. "I might take you up on that, you know." She teases.

"I'm not kidding. – I tell her seriously – If you want a quiet outing, all you need to do is ask. It's really not a problem. You've been taking care of my house for a whole year, so it's not like you don't know the place." I shrug.

"You're such a good girl. – I want to laugh at that. I'm nowhere near being a good girl. – But I don't want to use you like this." She sighs with a small smile.

"It's fine. Really. You said it yourself, we're basically family. At least that's what I'd like to believe." I assure her, putting the veggies on the tray and placing it in the oven, while Sam leaves to set the table.

"Hey kitten." Blake's arms snake around my waist as he kisses the side of my neck.

I turn my head to give him a peck. "Hi baby."

"Whatcha makin'?" I laugh at the weird accent he uses, giving him a questioning look.

"What was that?" I pretend to not understand him.

"What're we eating today?"

"Stuffed chicken with roasted veggies and multigrain rice." I tell him, penguin walking to the fridge to get the fruits out to make a cocktail, with Blake's arms still around me. Halfway across the kitchen he simply picks me up and carries me the rest of the way, causing his parents to laugh at us.

I take the stuff I need then let Blake carry me back to the counter, where Sam put the blender.

"You're ridiculous." I shake my head in mock pity when my cute boyfriend doesn't release me.

"What's on your mind? I can tell you're bothered by something." He quietly whispers into my ear, rubbing my waist.

"How did you know?" I keep my voice quiet, just like him.

"I always know." He declares, kissing my neck.

"I saw something on the way here and I didn't get a good feeling about it." I sigh.

"What was it?"

"I passed a van on the way here... and it looked like it came from the direction of Victoria's house. I might be just overreacting, cause it's her, but... I don't know. Forget it, I'm probably just paranoid." I shake my head to get rid of the disturbing thought, concentrating on the task at hand.

"You're not paranoid, baby. If you got a bad feeling, then you're probably right. I can count on one hand all the times you were wrong about something." Blake kisses my earlobe before pecking my neck. He knows I tend to get worried about stuff like that, especially since I don't know what Victoria's up to. She's not one to give up easily, and I feel like she's been way too quiet ever since Tank threw her out of the club.

I decide to not let the thoughts of what I've seen ruin our evening, concentrating on spending time with my boyfriend and his family. The dinner goes smoothly and after we're done eating, we get the snacks and drinks out, just chilling in the living room, watching Lord of the Rings. Blake keeps my legs across his, rubbing my knee with his free hand, while the other one holds his drink. He and Jared are drinking whiskey, while Sam and I are sipping wine.

After the movie ends, Blake and I go to his room to get ready to sleep. I'm in the shower when I hear Blake's phone ring. This better not be Tyler asking to go to a party or I will fucking punch him next time I see him. He's been pestering us about partying ever since we came back. He's also tried to persuade Blake to convince me to go on a double date with him and his boyfriend. Till now my injuries stopped him, but for the last week he's been more and more persistent.

I get out of the shower and dry off before hobbling to the bedroom and plopping my ass on the side of the bed with a tired sigh. I lay my head on Blake's thighs, staring up at him as he leans against the headboard. "Tell me it wasn't Tyler again." I sigh, making him chuckle. He runs his finger over my face, drawing some unintelligible patterns on my skin, then frowns worriedly.

"It was Finn." He starts with a sigh. "He asked me to tell you your car is totaled." He quietly says and I can tell it's not all.

"What's going on? I can tell you're hiding something." I grab his hand and leave a kiss on the back of it. I don't like where this is going.

"Finn asked me who lives on – he pauses – Hill Field Road 23. It's Victoria's house." He sighs. Shit. I was right after all. Something's going on.

"I don't want to think about it today. Can we deal with this tomorrow?" I plead.

"Of course kitten. Let's go to sleep, you look tired."

We settle in a spooning position, with me being the small spoon, as always, and fall asleep in minutes, ignoring Finn's disturbing news.
