End of Chapter 8 -

CRASH!!!

"SHIT! CAROL WHAT WAS THAT?!"

"I DON'T KNOW! QUILL WHAT HAPPENED?!"

"WE GOT HIT BY AN ASTEROID! DON'T WORRY I'M WORKING ON IT!" Quill shouts.

As Quill was attempting to shove Rocket off the controls of the Milano, a bright light flashes and all of the asteroids disappear. As you open your eyes, you see a white spaceship with orange holes in it. What was that?

"Guys, there's a dude on top of a white spaceship waving at us. Who is that?" You ask.

"Ego." Carol replies.

***

"Ego? Who's Ego?" You ask, panicked.

"Someone I met a very long time ago, I wish I could remove that memory." Carol replies.

"Right, Carol. Who is Ego, and why should we care about who he is?" Quill asks, more serious than he has ever been.

Carol sighs, and pauses for a moment before speaking, "Ego is a celestial being, who is dreaming of 'expanding' his empire by overpowering planets and taking them as his own. He is not someone to be trusted. At. All. Everyone keep your distance from him, he's like a parasite."

"If he's such a parasite, why did he save us from the asteroid field?" Quill asks.

"I don't know, Peter, I really don't know."

"Maybe we should meet with him? Ask him why he saved us?" Gamora states.

"That's a good idea, Gamora. I would very much like to meet the person who has the power to destroy floating space rocks with the blink of an eye." Rocket replies, excited by the sheer power that Ego holds in the palm of his hand.

"Rocket, Gamora, that is not a good idea at all. He could be out to kill us for all we know. I think we should take Carol's advice and leave, y'know since she has met him and all." You respond.

"Thank you, Y/N." With that, Carol leaves the cockpit.

"I'll go find her and ask if she's okay. Do not engage with Ego, no matter what you think about him until we get back. Okay?" You state.

"Yes, Y/N." They all reply.

"Good. I'll be right back."

***

You wander around the Milano, entering every room until you find Carol in the storage space. She looks saddened by something, probably Ego. Should I console her or leave her alone? She'll probably want some company, right?

"Carol? Are you alright?"

Carol turns around to face you, so you can see the worry on her face, and a single tear rolls down her cheek and hits the floor.

"Oh Carol, what's wrong?"

"It's nothing I can't handle, don't worry about me, Y/N."

"Oh no, don't give me that. Is it the 'Ego drama' that's got you down?"

"Y/N. I said I'm fine."

"I can clearly see that you're not. Tell me."

"NO Y/N! That's final." Carol shouts, instantly breaking down into sobs.
