Chapter 12 - Death to Ego Pt. 3

End of Chapter 11 -

"Ca---? Anyo--? Hello? I hear through the comms. Oh God, I hope nothing has happened to Y/N.

"Y/N?! Can you hear me? Where are you? What are your coordinates? Listen to me, I can't break through the membrane, Ego is getting stronger. Groot had to plant the bomb instead of me. I'm so sorry, Y/N, I've failed you." I say into the comms, worried for Y/N.

"Carol? I'm so sca--." Y/N begins, but then the comms lose signal again.

Oh no!

You look around the cave, scared. Of all the places to put you, Ego had to put you in a cave surrounded by hundreds of dead people. Is this foreshadowing something? Am I going to die here?

"Carol, please save me..." You say, almost crying. "Please..."

"Where's Y/N? What have you done with them?" Peter demands an answer from his father. 

"They're safe, for now, stored away in a cave, far from here. That's all that matters. Now, Peter, we have so much work to do." Ego says, as he attaches his hands to either side of Peter's face, showing him his plan for the universe. Peter's eyes show millions of galaxies taken over by Ego, and he is shocked at the plan.

"You can't do this, Ego! I will not help you." Peter shouts.

"You don't have a choice." Ego pressures. He raises a blue spike from beneath the building, impaling Peter through the chest. "I don't need your permission to continue my life-long quest. I'll just have to suck the life force out of you to do so."

Peter screams as the spike punctures his chest. Ego walks up to him, taking his Sony Walkman. "No..." Peter whispers. Ego presses play on the device, and Brandy (You're a Fine Girl) plays. "My life, my love and my lady is the sea." Ego finishes the lyrics. "Shame the universe came to this, Peter. You're weak. We could have done this together." He says, as he smashes the device.

Carol's P.O.V.

"Guys! I've got to go find, Y/N! Keep going with the plan! Ego will be dead in no time!"

"I'm going with you, Carol." Gamora says. "Y/N is like a sibling to me. I care for them very much, just as you do. Peter cannot function without them."

"Gamora, I can do this on my own. But, thank you. You stay with the Guardians, in case any surprises come your way. I'll be back with Y/N in no time, don't you worry." I reassure her.

"Fine. I hope you find them."

Y/N's P.O.V.

This cave is scary as hell! There's loads of skeletons everywhere, covering every surface, even the floor is made up of skeletons. Are these the failed experiments that Ego tested? Are these all his past lovers? He's been a busy boy, I'll give him that.

You wander around the cave, searching for a way out. There are none, great. Think, Y/N. Think! You look up, praying that Carol will come and save you. You may have heightened senses and force fields, but neither of them are going to help you in this situation.

You begin to think of possible ways out, when a spiral before you. This spiral then turns into a circle, with purple outlines, the same colour as your force fields. You stare at it, amazed. What is it? You look into the spiral, and see another place. Is this a portal? What? How? You poke your hand through, and look around the other side of the circle, and it is gone. Oh my God, it's a portal! Where does it lead? I suppose anywhere is better than this death-cave. You take a deep breath and step through, only to feel yourself falling.
