Chapter 22 - Revenge

End of Chapter 21 -

"I love you, Carol. Don't forget that..." You say, as your chest begins to dust away.

"I love you too, Y/N." Carol is sobbing now. Steve puts his arm around her shoulder and pulls her into him slightly. "I love you so much. You'll be back before you know it, I promise." She moves out of Steve's grip, leaning down and kissing you as you dust away.

"We need to kill Thanos. Right now." Carol cries out, falling back into Steve. She begins to sob into Steve, who just holds her and strokes her back. Natasha stares down at Carol, who is covered in your dust. She moves to where Thor and Bucky are stood. Bucky places his hand around Nat's shoulder, and her hand moves to his waist. Rhodes, Rocket, Okoye and Bruce all crowd round where Carol and Steve are sat.

"Oh God." Steve breathes out.

Carol's P.O.V.

"Oh God." Steve breathes out from behind me, but all I'm focusing on is the sight before me. Y/N just got turned to dust, just like half of the universe. Gone. I can't believe Thanos actually done it. He fulfilled his destiny.

Imagine all of the things which will come for us now. Galactus, Kang, Mephisto... everyone can have a crack at destroying the rest of the universe. No one will be there to stop them. Nothing in their way. Except me. Me and what's left of the Avengers. Don't worry, Y/N, I will bring you and everyone else in this stinking universe back. Whatever it takes.

"Carol?" Steve says, looking over my shoulder. "Are you okay to stand?"

"Yeah, should be." I say as I slowly get up from my spot. "We have to find a way to bring everyone back. Who's with me?"

A chorus of answers can be heard from the other Avengers, Okoye and Rocket.

"We need to make Thanos pay! He took the only two people who made me feel normal from me." Rocket demands, almost crying. "Groot vanished before my eyes. Oh shit! Where are the other Guardians? Are they okay? Carol, we need to go to Titan now to find them!" He pleads.

"Give her a few minutes to grieve her partner's passing, Rabbit. I'll join you on your quest to find the Guardians. They helped me when I was in need of assistance, so it's time I return the favour." Thor says whilst walking over to Rocket and placing his hand on Rocket's head, stroking it a little bit.

"Don't stroke me!" Rocket snaps. "But yeah, you can come with us. After all, we did save you from almost dying in space like the rest of your ship."

"Watch your mouth, Rabbit." Thor warns.

"Or what? You'll kill me? Part of me just died with Groot and Y/N. There's nothing you can do that will hurt me. Nothing!"

"Boys! Stop it. We'll head to Titan now. Thor, can you transport us there? I saw your appearance on the battlefield through a weird-light portal." I say, holding her side to balance. "Y/N was amazed by it when you came through."

Thor walks over to me and drags Rocket with him by his ear. "Let's go." A blinding light surrounds them, and then they're gone.

Titan

Thor is the first to step out of the bifrost, Stormbreaker in hand. "Here we are, Titan." He says, doing a wide sweep of the dead planet with his arm. Blood and broken pieces of architecture scatter the ground.

"Thor? Is that you?" A voice says from behind the group. Thor whips around at lightning speed to find Tony perched on a bit of wreckage, his suit nowhere to be seen. He looks awful. How is he still alive?

"Tony! Man of Iron! How long have you been here? We needed you on Earth! Thanos came, he snapped. Half of the universe is gone!" Thor shouts at Tony, who shudders.

"Don't you think he was here too, on his home territory? We fought him! Me, the Guardians, Strange and Pete-, oh God. I lost the kid, Thor. I lost Peter. I promised his aunt, May, nothing would ever happen to him and now look what I've done. Not only have I stranded myself on a distant planet with a blue chick, but I also stole the kid from New York and made him die out here! I'm the worst mentor ever. How does anyone put any trust in me?" Tony attempts to get up and walk over to Rocket. "I'm sorry about your family. They told me a lot about you and the tree... what was his name? Groot!"

"I'm sorry you got stranded here. Wait, you said 'blue chick', right? Where is she? Where's Nebula?" Rocket comes to realisation that Nebula is still alive.

"She went south, towards a ship that looks like a bird." Tony says, pointing south.

"Thanks! Nebula!" Rocket shouts, running off to find the only part of his family he has left.

"Tony, we're here to take you back to Earth. It's where you belong." I say, looking at him. I can't bring myself to say anymore, because I'll start crying over Y/N.

"Okay." He says, standing up straight and following Thor.

"Rocket, we're going back to Earth. You coming with us or staying with Nebula?" I say into the comms.

"I found the ship! We can all fly back to Earth! Nebula was in a corner on the ship, and said she is coming with us. She has no one, except me. Gamora's been sacrificed by Thanos." Rocket answers. "I'll send you the co-ordinates now."

Back on Earth

The Milano lands in the new Avengers base, and someone is watching the landing. Her eyes are closed and her hands are holding one another. This must be Tony's fiancee, Pepper.

"Hey, Pep." Tony breathes out, as he walks off the ship. Pepper runs up to him and engulfs him in a massive hug. She must have been worried sick about him! When Y/N comes back... if they come back... I'm never letting them go again. Ever.

"Tony! I can't believe you're alive! I knew you wouldn't be dusted! I knew it!" Pepper exclaims, still holding Tony in a bone-crushing hug. "Where were you?"

"I'll fill you in at home." Tony turns to Steve, who is now in the landing zone alongside Natasha and Rhodes. "I lost the kid." He breathes out.

"Tony, you didn't lose Peter. He went with you on his own free will, he's a brave kid. We'll bring him back, we'll bring everyone back."

"Let's get them stones then!" I exclaim. "It's the only way we can bring everyone back! We have to try it! Get me to a control room, now. I need all the technology I can get my hands on. Rocket, do you have anything to upgrade their tech with? We could use the range being magnified and the comm signals being boosted to intergalactic levels."

"I'll see what I can do." Rocket says, running off into the building with Nebula following. She puts her hand on Tony's shoulder before following Rocket. They've only had each other for a while, and Nebula must feel protective over him.

"We're gonna bring everyone back!" I shout before running into the base after Rocket and Nebula. "Come on! I promised Y/N I'd bring them and the rest of the universe back, even if it's the last thing I ever do. Oh, and we need to kill Thanos. I promised that too. Let's get to work!"

I'm going to get you back, Y/N. Whatever it takes.
