I didn't want to slap my brothers on the back of their heads. I'm not really in the mood to deal with them today but when Stefan decides to take Elena out to the woods so she could get used to her vampirism I knew Damon would have something against it.

"You're making a big mistake," Damon said as Stefan continued packing.

"No, I'm not. If I can get Elena used to animal blood right out the gate..." Stefan tried to argue.

"You're reaching."

"Maybe she'll be able to bypass all the things that we went through."

Damon looked at me. "Delusional," he sang.

"Maybe she actually has a shot at this."

"Wrong. You're just wrong, Stefan."

"She won't be able to handle it if she hurts someone, Damon. Her compassion is her Achilles' heel and everything is magnified right now."

"Then you better hope she's not a fan of Bambi."

I noticed their eyes were on me. Just waiting for me to pick aside. I shrugged my shoulders. "I think you're both idiots," I said. "I'm not saying it's gonna happen soon. But let's say that Elena does do Stef's bunny diet. Let's say she could handle it better than any of us. But you can't deny that there'll be a day that she might slip up and kills someone. On purpose, on accident, it won't matter. She'll feel immense guilt, and cry, and if she never had a drop of human blood then we might as well have another Vicki Donovan in our hands. Which I hope it doesn't come down to that."

Damon motioned to me. "See, even our dear baby sister agrees with me. Elena needs human blood. From the vein."

I groaned. "That's not what I'm saying!" I looked at Damon. "Name me a vampire who didn't kill at least one person when they were new." Exhibit A: Caroline. I looked at Stefan. "And you name me one who went on the bunny diet and didn't kill dozens." Another example: him.

"If she kills someone, she will crumble. How much pain do you think she can take before she shuts off her humanity switch?" Stefan argued.

"It happens to the best of us at least once," Damon counterargued. Then he looked at me. "We're still waiting for your time to shine."

I glared at him. "It's not going to happen. It's not my fault that you guys decided to shut it off and inspect to get over it in a hundred years or so."

"Yeah, well, I think I'd like her to skip that part," Stefan said.

Damon went over to the gym bag on Stefan's bed and started pulling Stefan's journal out. "She can't learn to control the blood lust if she's never actually experienced the blood lust."

"What are you doing? Knock it off."

"It's like a cheat. Like giving a kid a calculator before they know math."

Damon went to put Stefan's stuff away but Stefan grabbed his bag. "I said stop."

I groaned as they had their little stare down. This is why I hate being in the middle...and the youngest child. I walked towards the middle and pushed both them back. "How about you two idiots stop?"

Stefan and Damon were glaring at each other. Gee, for being over a hundred years old, they sure like to act like a bunch of five-year-olds.

"Whoa," I heard Elena said as she walked into the room. "What's going on?"

"Things One and Two are having a little disagreement about process," I answered her.

"You and Damon are still not on board with the animal plan," she concluded.
