The plan was for me to meet up with Katherine in Pennsylvania but the plan's changed. Besides the fact that she warned me that Elena and Rebekah were here, she made me call Elijah to let him know I wouldn't be attending the exchange.

"Tell me why I should even consider?" Elijah asked. "The deal was you and Katerina bring the cure to me."

"Let's be honest, 'Lijah," I said as I was near Klaus's mansion. "You're not interested in me in the slightest. The deal is mostly for Katherine. And I, for one, don't want to be there when you two decide to suck faces."

"You're not lying to me, are you, Bela?"

I scoffed. "I'm not that stupid to lie to you. I know you have eyes everywhere and have your little groupies follow me to make sure I didn't kill anyone."

"And the ten you recently killed?"

"You can thank Stefan and Damon for that. Locking a vampire up in a cellar with little to no blood would make someone go crazy." Elijah sighed on the other end. "Listen, you know I'm in Mystic Falls and I know you're gonna strike a deal with Klaus once you get your hands on the cure. We can meet up and have...I don't know, coffee or something? No hidden agenda and I won't kill anyone till then."

"I much prefer if you don't drink from anyone until I get there."

"That's no fun. Blood bags don't taste the same as the vein. It's like if you drink ice cold water from a glass cup compared to a plastic bottle."

He chuckled "That's one way to put it."

I rolled my eyes. "Fine, it'll be like if you wore a clip-on tie compared to your designer ones."

"Either you don't drink from the vein or I'll cancel the meeting with Katerina."

"Wow, someone who puts me before a doppelganger," I replied sarcastically.

"Bela."

"I'm not taking this deal. I know Katherine can convince you whether I'm there or not. And, frankly, there's nothing in it for me."

Elijah went silent. "No hidden agenda, you don't harm anyone, and you call me every day until I arrive. I'll owe you a favor when you need it."

"Elijah owing someone a favor? Now, that's interesting." I pursed my lips as my phone dinged again, getting another message from Klaus. "Ok, then. As of right now, I won't drink from anyone. It's gonna suck drinking from the bags." I heard another ding, which got me rolling my eyes. "Talk to you later."

With that, I hung up. I was already annoyed this morning because Klaus kept messaging me. I didn't even open his messages because I was busy ignoring Stefan's calls or dodging  Caroline and Bonnie, who didn't know she was helping Silas so she just found out about me, Elena, and Jeremy. Other than that, I was messaging Katherine before she told me to call Elijah. I just had a busy morning.

"I got your fifty bajillion messages!" I shouted as I strolled into the mansion. "This better be life or death!"

"Go away," I heard Klaus say.

"Klaus, where are you?" I went toward his parlor to find him shirtless on the floor all sweaty and looking like he's in pain as he leaned against the piano seat. "What the hell happened to you?"

"I need more time. Stop hounding me!" he snapped.

I gave him a look. "I'm hounding you? You're the one who's blowing up my phone!"

His eyes widened. "Bels? Is it really you?"

I glanced down at my outfit before raising my brow at him. "I'm pretty sure it is."
