I never felt more like a punch to the face in a long time. The coffin....it had Klaus's mother in it. The weapon, who was suppose to kill Klaus, forgave him. Of course something wouldn't go right for us.
"It was their mother Esther who was sealed in that coffin," Elena told us. Us meaning me, Stefan, and Damon.
"As in the original witch?" Stefan ask confusingly.
"What? How is she even alive? I thought her hybrid freak show of a son ripped her heart out a thousand years ago," Damon also wondered.
I nodded in agreement. "True, but if Klaus is able to jump from bodies I'm pretty sure his Mommy could stay...not dead. She was close to a witch, maybe the witch had a few tricks up her sleeve."
Elena sighed. "Elijah said that she wants to live in peace with her family, including Klaus." That is fucking bull.
"She was supposed to be the weapon to help us kill Klaus," Stefan pointed out.
"Yeah, well, not anymore. At least, not according to Elijah." Yeah, the mother that was killed by her own son wants peace with him. Something doesn't seem right with it.
"That coffin was the only thing stopping Klaus from tearing us to shreds."
"Anyone else feeling a little used right now?" Damon drawn out.
I held my hand up. "Used and abused, brother."
"Look, Elijah promised me that his family wouldn't hurt any of us," Elena tried to reassure us. At least I know Elijah would keep his part of the deal. Rebekah already went after Elena last night. Now that Esther is free, Klaus could come after any of us. The doorbell rang. "I believe him."
My brothers and I followed Elena to the door. I furrowed my brows when there was no one there as Elena knelt down and picked something up. She turned around and an envelope was in her hands.
"What is it?" Damon asked. Elena opened the letter.
"It's an invitation," she answered. "Please join the Mikaelson family this evening at seven o'clock for dancing, cocktails, and celebration."
"Who the hell are the Mikaelsons?" Stefan asked.
I rolled my eyes. "The Original family."
"It's not bad enough they're moving into town. Now they want a housewarming gift?" Damon asked. What would they like though? A plant made from the White Oak tree?"
Elena flipped the invitation. "Wait. There's a note on the back. Elena, I think it's time we finally meet. Esther."
"Esther wants to meet you?" I asked. "That's really weird. And if our past history with any of the Mikaelsons hasn't proven anything yet, if an Original wants to talk to you...it can't be good." Although, Elena's life is only in danger to Rebekah. If she's just going to meet Esther, then we could find out what she wants. Elena won't be in any real danger. "You should do it."
"No," Damon declined real quickly. "Absolutely not."
Elena sighed in annoyance. "If Esther wants to talk to me, maybe I should find out why."
"That's the dumbest idea either of you could think of." He looked at Elena. "She already tried to kill you once."
"No, they're right," Stefan said. "Bonnie was led to open that coffin for a reason. I think there's more to this than just some family reunion."
I nodded. "Come on, Esther couldn't really forgive Klaus after a thousand years?"
Damon rolled his eyes. "Can we go back in time to the old Stefan who cared if Elena lived or died?" Then he looked at me. "Or when you became my little Mini Me?"
