"Nash is it okay if someone can hangout with us?" Hayes asks.

"Yeah, who is it?" Nash asks and puts his phone in his pocket.

"Jess." Hayes says and smiles slightly.

"Wait. Jess as in 8th grade Jess, the one you had a crush on?" Nash asks slightly widening his eyes.

"I never had a crush on Jess, we were best friends and she asked if she could hangout with me today and shes lonely and I feel bad."

"Wait Jess Richards?" Ashley asks.

"Yeah." Hayes says

"I haven't seen her in a long time! I want her to come over!" Ashley says and jumps out of her pool chair.

"Who is Jess?" I ask not knowing who this person is at all.

"My best friend." Hayes says and his voice cracks a little bit.

"Cool." I say not knowing what to really say.

"So are we going swimming or what?" Nash says eagerly.

"You guys go. I'm gonna go change." Ashley says.

"Hurry back." Nash says.

"Ashley, wait up I have to ask you something." I say and jog up to her.

"Yeah Matt?" She asks and turns her head around.

"What happened that made you scream last night." I say and fiddle with the hem of my Obey shirt with my fingers.

She pauses and looks intently into my eyes. I guess my curiosity is hurting her.

"Matt, I think it would be best if I told you later on." She says apologetically and turns back around. Ashley rushed herself into the bathroom not even bothering looking up from the floor.

I sigh and run my hand through through my hair smoothly and slowly walk back to the pool chair. I sit down right on the chair that is next to Hayes who seems to be texting someone of a lot of importance due to the facial expression he is making.

Focused.

after what it seemed like, 7 minutes, Ashley still seemed to be in the bathroom but Hayes and Nash stood up and said "We're getting Jess. She's in the lobby."

I nod my head and look at my phone once again.

10: 15, the clock on my lock screen said.

"Hi Matt." Ashley says and puts her bag on the chair besides me and adjusts the towel that is wrapped around her body.

"Hi." I smile cheekily.

"Where's Nash and Hayes?"

"Getting his friend from the lobby. Can I swim now?" I pout

"Yeah yeah. c'mon." She grumbles and rolls her eyes.

I smile to myself and I jump into the pool. submerge from the water and flip my hair to get it out of my face and wipe the water off of my eyelashes.

Ashley is still staring at the water in her little world, day dreaming of so many things.

"Are you going to jump in?" I ask her.

"No. I- uh. I can't really swim." She says and gnaws on the inside of her cheek.

"Here, let me help you." I say and walk out of the pool.
