"Oh shit sorry." I whispered to Jimmy, lifting my head from his shoulders. I felt my cheeks heat up in absolute embarrassment. I hope he didn't think that I did that on purpose. "That's okay." He whispered back, not quite loud enough for me to hear if there was any kind of emotion in his words. I straightened back up again, as sad as it was.
"Finally!" Chandler exclaimed as Jimmy put on a film that we were all happy with. We must have been looking for a solid 30 minutes, and I'd already had two of the beers that were out on the table. "Do we have any more drink?" Jake asked, the same thought crossing his mind, as it had mine, when I looked at the empty ring pulls in front of us. "Yeah, I think there's some in the cupboard." Jimmy said, "I'll grab them." He pulled himself up from the couch, making his way around the awkwardly placed coffee table. Chandler, jumping up and quickly following behind him.
I heard Chandler and Jimmy talking in the kitchen, but I couldn't quite hear what they were saying. It reminded me of earlier, when I had been accosted coming out of the bathroom at work, and I wondered if it was along the same sort of line. I assumed Chandler was asking me if I was interested in Bailey, to see if he could play matchmaker between myself and Jimmy. I didn't think it would work, however I had also thought that he might be asking on behalf of Jake, or someone else. He seemed very close with all the guys in the group, and I knew it was only my wishful thinking that made me believe he was trying to set me up with Jimmy. After all, he was my boss, like I'd told myself a million times before.
"You okay?" Jake asked next to me, his voice slightly quieter than usual. I nodded my head, "Yeah, sorry, just zoned out a little. I'm starving." I told him, steering the conversation towards food. Not only was I starving, I was a complete and utter lightweight, and I knew that the burger and breakfast I had earlier, would not help cushion the alcohol that had already distorted my mind. Jake nodded at me, and pulled his phone out of his pocket. "What do you fancy?" He asked. 'Not Chinese' was my first thought, unsurprisingly, as the thought of all of that food from last night made my stomach churn. I had eaten enough in the last couple of days to feed the 5,000. "Pizza?" I asked, hoping that he would say yes. It had been a long while since I'd had a proper stuffed crust, grease filled pizza, and as soon as it crossed my mind, it turned into a craving. He grinned at me.
Jimmy and Chandler walked in with two more crates of beer, and I wondered why Jimmy had this much alcohol in his house. I couldn't tell if it was a good sign that he had it, and hadn't drank it, or if it was a bad sign that he had so many stashed away. I found myself ecstatic that I had started my job with the company mid way through the week. At least if I did get drunk enough to be hungover, it wouldn't affect me in terms of work. "Pizza?" Jake asked the boys as they set the beers down on the table. Jimmy and Chandler both agreed in a way that made it sound as if they were craving it more than I was, which I was thankful for, however it did completely and utterly clear whatever mood they had about the conversation that they were just having. I was hoping that I would be able to get a slight indication as to what they were talking about, but the universe never takes kindly to me being nosy.
Jimmy handing me a beer, our fingers touching slightly as he passed it to me, and I couldn't stop myself from blushing ever so slightly. Luckily, Jimmy had dimmed all the lights in the room, in order to make the film 'scarier'. Thank god he did, because as soon as he sat down next to me, I knew he'd sat closer than he was before, and I felt the blood rush to my head. The beer was definitely working, as I felt a lot giddier than I usually do around Jimmy, and I couldn't stop smiling. "What did you guys want to order then?" Jake asked, to which Chandler immediately responded "Hawaiian." I rolled my eyes at him, finding myself not at all surprised that he would be the kind of guy who wanted pineapple on his pizza. "Half and half it is then." Jake chuckled, selecting the option on the app that he was on. "What did you guys want?" He asked Jimmy and I. Jimmy turned his head to face Jake, and I suddenly became aware of just how close he was sat, I could feel the warmth of his breath on my skin, and it sent shivers down my spine. "Barbecue Chicken." We both responded, almost simultaneously, and I felt him laugh beside me. I was a little taken aback by how similar we both were, and it made me so happy. "Alrighty then." Jake said, inputting all of our orders into his phone, as well as a bunch of sides. My stomach rumbled just thinking about it, I was going to get fat if I kept eating like this.
We started the film whilst waiting for the pizza to arrive, and whilst Chandler had claimed he was a fan of horror films, he seemed to be the one most affected by all of the jump scares and cinematography used. I could've sworn he was hiding behind Jake at one point, but he claimed that he had dropped his phone down the back of the couch. It took half an hour for the doorbell to go, and the whole time, I was drinking rather fast. I don't know if it was the fact that I was sat next to a very attractive guy, or the fact that I hadn't watched a horror movie for a while and I would've been embarrassed if I got scared in front of these guys. Truth be told, I was borderline drunk. Jimmy jumped up to go and grab the pizza, pulling hundred dollar bills out of his pocket. I smiled at him as he walked across the room, as he was stumbling ever so slightly, signifying that he might also be feeling the same as I was. This was going to be an interesting night.
