I heard the sirens, and I finally worked up the courage to speak to the operator on the phone, who was trying to keep me calm whilst the maniac outside my door was keeping me trapped. "I'm in apartment 6." I told her, and I heard the man outside the door go quiet. "What was that?" He asked. "Who are you talking to in there?" He shouted, banging on the door, the sound made me gasp. I heard the main door slam downstairs, and footsteps running up, my front door slammed against the wall, and the guy outside started laughing. "Ahh, the boyfriend." I heard him say, before there was a loud bang. My eyes widened, I didn't think Jimmy would be the first to show up, what if he got hurt? I heard some scuffling, and then heard the caretaker shout "Fuck you!", it was at that point I heard more footsteps, "Police." I felt relief wash over me, but I was still worried as to what was going on behind the door. I heard voices, but I couldn't quite make out what anyone was saying. There were multiple conversations going on at once, as well as the guy grunting as he was carried out. His shouts getting further and further away from the door. There was a slight knock, and I stood up, wiping the tears away from my eyes. "Y/N?" Jimmy asked. I unlocked the door and practically ran at him, enveloping him in a hug.
He hugged me back just as tight, his face nestling into my hair. "Are you okay?" He asked, and I nodded slowly, not being able to find any words. We hugged for a few moments longer, before the policeman that was still in the room cleared his throat. "Y/N, would you mind running us through what happened?" He asked. I pulled away from Jimmy, realizing that I was still wrapped in a towel. I felt the heat rush to my cheeks, and I quickly grabbed the dressing gown that was hung up on the wall, covering myself up a little more, before engaging the copper.
I explained everything that had happened, even layering a little backstory as to how creepy this guy was, and it wasn't too long before he told me he had everything he needed, made sure I was okay, and left. Jake was here too, I hadn't realized in the heat of the moment, but I assumed that he had played a part in taking the guy down. The caretaker didn't have much height to him, but he was very wide, and I could imagine it would've taken a little more than one person to take him out. I was relieved Jimmy didn't come alone, but he must have been driving fast if he got here before the police. "I'm sorry." I told him, and he shook his head, "What for, love?" He asked, confusion laced in his words. We were sat next to each other on the bed, Jake perched on the chair in the corner of the room. Jimmy's arm was wrapped around my shoulders, pulling me towards him. "I shouldn't have opened the door." I said, not quite crying, but I was still shaking. "Hey now, it's not your fault, he was just a dirty piece of shit." Jimmy said, resting his head on top of mine. "Yeah but still, I know you had plans." I said. He pulled away from me and looked me dead in the eyes, "Nothing is more important to me than you-" He said, before quickly adding, "-right now." I smiled at him, "Besides, our plans were centered around you anyway. If you're up for it, we'll take you to your 'exam party'." He said, doing quotation marks with his fingers. "So... What? A party?" I asked. "Pretty much." Jake said, "Or, small gathering with booze and cake." He laughed. "Well I suppose I'll have to get dressed." I said, standing up.
They had already cheered me up from such a drastic situation, and if that didn't prove how good a group of friends they were, nothing will. Especially as the worry I had yesterday over them making plans without me, was completely unnecessary. They began to leave the room in order to let me get dressed, "Jimmy, Jake." I said, they turned to look at me, "Thank you so much." I told them, just as the power came back on. I could see them both clearly now, and it looked as though Jimmy had been crying. I shot them both a smile, which they both returned. "Anything for you, Y/N." Jimmy said, making my stomach flip yet again. "I'll give the boys a call and let them know you're okay." Jake said. "Dress nice." He added, before pulling Jimmy out and sliding the door across, leaving me to get ready.
It took me half an hour to find a nice dress and put some make up on. I didn't quite know what the dress code was, 'Nice' was a pretty vague sentiment, but I wasn't in the mood to be rifling through outfits. I was still a little shaken up, but it was amazing how calm I felt knowing Jimmy was just on the other side of the door. I could hear them speaking to each other, but couldn't make anything out. As soon as I put the finishing touches to my outfit, there was a knock on the door. "Come in." I said, and watched as Jimmy slid the door across, closing it behind him. "Wow." He said, as soon as he looked at me. I felt my cheeks going red, I looked at the floor. "Wow yourself." I said, he giggled, "Shut up." He made his way over to the bed, sitting on the end of it, and watching as I put my earrings in. "Are you okay?" He asked. I turned to him and smiled, "I am now." I said, "I don't know where I'd be without you". He stood up, putting his hands on my shoulders, and pulling me into a hug.
I could hear his heart beating, and feel the warmth of his body. My stomach turned, and I felt like I was going to pass out. No matter what had happened over the last couple of hours, this is where I wanted to be. In Jimmy's arms. He stroked my back, making me feel so entirely relaxed, and all of a sudden, I forgot how to breath. "I was so worried about you." He whispered, and I hugged him tighter. "I kept thinking about what was going on, and what would happen if I didn't get here in time." He said, I nodded against his chest, "It's okay, I'm okay." I told him. He pulled away, his hands still on my shoulders. I looked up at him, a tear in his eye, yet a smile on his face. His dimple showing slightly as he looked back at me. His hair ruffled and his eyes sparkling. Beautiful. His smile faltered, and before I knew it, his lips were on mine, and his arms wrapped themselves around my waist. There was no hesitation before I was kissing him back, and running my hand through his hair. I felt like the room was spinning, and I could feel him smiling through the kiss.
The moment ended when we heard Jake coughing from the other room, it shocked both of us, and we both looked at the door, expecting him to be standing there. We giggled at the thought of being caught in this compromising position. Jimmy's hand lifting my dress up slightly, and resting on my ass, and my fingers having found themselves into the back of his jeans. We turned to face each other again, our lips meeting once more, before we rested our heads together, just smiling. "I really like you." Jimmy said, his smile growing even wider. "I really like you too." I told him, kissing him once more.
