"So Cold" By Breaking Benjamin.
. E I G H T .
Iris pulls at her skirt a bit before turning in the mirror to inspect the back of it. She shouldn’t have agreed to this. Going out, actually outside on a date with Abel is a bad idea. She doesn’t have a grasp on this whole vampire thing yet but he wouldn’t leave her apartment or kissing her until she agreed and her self-control was already on a thin enough string as it was.
Still, she can’t help but be a little bit excited. This is her first date in a really long time. Last time she was in middle school and it was with Jimmy Taylor, a geeky kid like herself who she didn’t actually like but went out with because that was what she saw everyone else doing. She was still in her chubby stage, that didn’t pass till the ass end of her high school year, so she felt she was lucky to even have someone ask her.
This is going to be different though, she decides. It’s with Abel, who seems very interested in her despite her recent…dietary changes. Running a hand through her hair again she licks her lower lip before remembering its got lip-gloss on it making her make a face. Sighing she leaves the bathroom just in time to hear knocking at her door.
Yanking open the door her stomach drops to her toes when Xavier stands leaning against her doorway, his mercury eyes scanning down her appearance before raising an eyebrow at her. Blushing seven different shades of red she dips her head and opens the door a bit more so he can come in, which he was already in the process of doing anyway. Shutting the door behind them she wrings her hands nervously.
What will Xavier say to this whole thing with Abel?
Does it matter?
“It smells like a male has been here.” Xavier comments casually before looking at her over his shoulder, “Did you at least clean up the mess?”
“I—“
“Obviously not.” He says tightly as he stares at the still present but fainter stain of Abel’s blood on her carpet.
Shit.
Xavier tilts his head and studies her in an unnerving way before a scowl comes over his face. He moves too fast for her to react as he grabs her around the neck and pins her against the nearest wall so her feet dangle above the air. It’s not to hurt her but it is to keep her pinned and uncomfortable while he questions her; that much she can tell.
“You stupid cow!” He snarls at her, fangs clearly on show.
“I didn’t make a mess!” She cries helplessly. “You told me not to make a mess and I didn’t!”
Xavier growls loudly making her whimper before pulling her body back from the wall only to slam it hard enough back into it to make a dent in the drywall. Iris yells in surprise but doesn’t really feel any pain just the shock of the impact. His hand tightens like a vise around her neck, now cutting off her air supply and making her claw at his hands hard enough to draw blood from him but nothing else. Finally, after a full minute of this he releases her making her fall to the floor in a heap. Iris coughs and cries on the floor, making bloody tears fall from her eyes and onto the flesh of one of her hands.
“You will kill him or I will.”
Iris shakes her head, “I can’t and I wont.”
“You cannot keep him! He is a human!”
