Paislee"I'm in dire need a night away from Robert! I need to spend time with my girl, y'know? Well, plus Oli too of course," Sheila said dramatically over the phone.
"You wanna go out? Or come to my pad and chill?" I suggested.
"Your place. Do you have any booze?"
"Yeah," I said hesitantly. "Some wine maybe."
"Ugh!" She groaned. "You never have anything strong. Just wait till you have a kid."
I chuckled and scanned my living room for the things that I needed to pick up. I hadn't had much time to clean this week and I needed to put things away for Oli. He had a knack for finding the most random things to play with and stuffing them in his mouth or nose. It was adorable until you're looking for your keys and Sheila returns them slobber-covered.
"Okay look, I'm coming over in ten minutes. I just need to tell Robert and hopefully, he won't catch an attitude because he's been in a funk this whole week."
"Okay, that's fine with me. I'll see you and Oli in a few then."
"Yep, bye."
"Bye."
Just like Sheila said, she was banging a heavy fist into my door in ten minutes. I had been previously trying to search for some type of booze for her and I to sip on for the night. It was only a quarter until six o'clock and Sheila was already looking for a buzz. After her third knock, I was rushing to the door considering that Oli was there too.
"Hey you two," I said once I opened the door. I picked up Oliver from the ground and peppered kisses along his sweet face as he laughed along. "Hi, baby. Look at how handsome you are."
Sheila and I hugged temporarily before all three of us walked further into my apartment. I could tell that Sheila had something on her mind that she was waiting to tell me. While Sheila and I headed to the kitchen, Oli caught an eye for some of the toys that I sat out for him to busy himself with.
"What's been happening with you, Mrs. Do-it-all?" I asked Sheila as she released a long sigh.
"Wine first, please," she responded.
I giggled and grabbed a glass that was readily set up. I started her off with a quarter of a glass until she kept egging me on for more. Sheila glanced at Oliver with an unreadable look before taking a sip and turning to me again with yet another sigh.
