While at my place of work, I couldn't help but get lost within the realms of my head where Deen occupied. His face flashed in my head and even when a blonde-haired customer came into the shop, I almost panicked with fear. I didn't imagine he would ever come to visit me because he was still angry at me and it would most likely cause a scene. Still, whenever the bell on the door rang, I looked up, only to be met with husbands trying to find gifts for their wives and wives trying to pick watches for husbands.

I had experienced the first silent treatment from Deen in our whole relationship. It wasn't quite proper to call it a silent treatment because honestly, he wasn't silent. He greeted me, said thank you, said goodnight, and yelled to me when he was leaving for work.

"Paislee?" I heard from my left. I looked up to see the owner of the shop, Diana, and smiled away the worry that sickened my face.

"Yes ma'am?" I replied.

"Are you alright, sweetheart? You've been looking like a drag all morning. . . Actually since yesterday."

"I'm fine. The shop isn't full now and all there is to do is smile and try to be of as much assistance." It was true since I didn't much to offer to the shop owners but they still took me in and gave me a job. I didn't know how to describe the fancy gems and rings or tell how many carats were in a necklace but I could smile and get people to buy products which was the ultimate goal.

"Very true, dear. Closing is in an hour or so. You should go ahead and take leave."

"No, it's fine," I said, a little too happily. I quieted my tone. "I rather be here."

In other words, I didn't want to go home and have to wait for Deen just for him to ignore me.

"Okay, sweetheart. Whatever suits you," Diana said and returned to the back of the shop where she would meticulously make beautiful designs out of pearls, amethyst, and rubies.

After mindlessly looking around the shop and assisting those who needed help, the bell against the door rang just before the last half-hour of work. I looked up to be surprised with Dean in his military uniform.

"Dean?" I asked in a shocked state.

"Paislee," he responded. He approached me in what I took as an awkward manner and simply waved.

I was surprised that he didn't have Margaret at his side but then I soon remembered the baby. "Hi. . ."

"Hey, how are you?" Dean asked, looking around briefly.

"Good, how about you?" I asked.

"Same ole, same ole. I didn't know you were working especially here of all places. I was surprised when I passed here with Deen one time."
