Deen"Thought you said you could beat me, huh?"
Coming straight off the track from running laps, Dean had a lot to say. Today, we were being tested at work. We were running, climbing, swimming, and a whole bunch of other stuff that could zap any normals person's energy in seconds. Dean loved active days like these while I didn't care so much them.
"You know I never win against you when it comes to running," I said between breaths before gulping down some water. "But if I remember correctly, you almost passed out during swimming."
Dean rolled his eyes and we both watched as another group of men started to run laps around the track. We had push-ups next and then the physical tests would be done for the day.
"You ready to go inside? Our group is heading in I think," Dean said.
"Yeah sure." We began walking through the grass silently. "Hey, Dean?"
"Yes sir?"
"After we get done with the whole day, can we talk like in the gymnasium or something? It can be anywhere really. It's nothing serious," I said.
"Ahh, whenever someone says it's not serious, it always is. That's fine though. The gym is fine with me after we change back into our uniforms," Dean said. "We're gonna' be behind schedule if we don't hurry up so let's go. . . Race ya!"
"Childish," I muttered, before sprinting off with Dean.
After Dean and I finished our last physical about an hour later, we both had split to use the showers and put on our clean and dry uniforms.
I was in the gym waiting for his arrival when I heard his infectious laugh from the double doors of the entrance. He skipped to the top bleachers where I was and sat down. There weren't many people in the gym which made it better for speaking.
"What's cracking?" Dean asked.
"Nothin' much. I just wanted to fill you in on some things," I said.
"Like what?"
"Well, since you're my best friend, I thought it was right to tell you that I'm officially going steady with someone."
Dean slowly started to smirk before letting out a hearty laugh. It was like he knew my next words already.
"Mhm, continue," Dean said.
"Paislee and I. We can't help how we feel and so we made the decision about a month ago to officially be each others. We've been going out for a month. . . Crazy," I said.
"I knew it," Dean said nonchalantly. "I was just waiting for you to tell me officially."
"How'd you know? You weren't even that interested in our friendship."
