"Huh. Well that was terrible."

I was on my way back from tennis tryouts with Jake. "Hey, you were playing against girls two years older than you. And at least you won one of your matches."

Kaylie totally crushed me. 6-0; 6-1. Lola did win too but not until after a tiebreaker which I lost 5-7. The only win I got today was against Stacy. Not to sound rude, but I honestly don't know how she even made the team. I won 6-1; 6-0.

"When is your coach posting the rankings?"

"He said they'll be posted on the school website tonight."

After a few minutes of peaceful silence, it was interrupted. "You're coming to the party tonight right?" Jake asked me as we pulled into the long driveway.

"I don't really have a choice. It's being held in the house I'm living in right now." I laughed. "Hey, can I invite Brock?"

"Sure, why not?" I love the new, laid-back Jake.

"Okay! Let's get this party started! If your age is only one digit.... or your name is Spike Benjamin Sawyer..... go upstairs!" Dallas called out, pointing to the staircase.

I watched as Spike, Austin, Waverly, Owen, Lucas and Max sadly made their way up to their bedrooms.

Ding-dong

The sound of the doorbell rang throughout the first floor of the house. "I got it!" I called out, hoping it was Brock.

I turned the corner towards the front door but someone had already beaten me there. Darrell. And who was standing in the doorway? Not Brock, that's for sure.

"Ugh, who invited her?" Little Miss. Blonde asked, looking over Darrell's shoulder.

She followed Darrell through the hallway to meet the others in the living room. "Everyone, this is Melanie." He introduced her. "And to answer you question from earlier," He turned to face her. "this is my sister, Jessie."

She gave me her signature glare. It looked like she wanted to say something, but the doorbell rang again and cut her off.

"I'll get it!" I turned back around towards the door before Jake stopped me.

"Actually, Kaylie just texted me. That's for me." He jumped over the back of the couch and returned a couple of minutes later with yet another one of my teammates.

"Who's up for a nice game of Cards Against Humanity?" Adam asked with the deck of cards in one hand and a beer in the other. Adam began to deal out the cards and I heard the doorbell ring out for a third time. That's got to be him. I thought.

"I got it! It's for me!" I jumped up from my spot on the floor. I rushed over to the front door and swung it open. "Hey." I said casually, leaning on the door.

"Hey!" His smile spread across his face and I nearly fainted. "Umm...... can I come in?"

"Oh! Yeah, of course." I led him to the living room and introduced him to everyone.

After a few rounds of cards, the boys unlocked the liquor cabinet and the rest of the night went by quickly. Not because I drank. I didn't, I swear. But because we were actually having fun.

Later that night

"Hey, has anyone seen Brock?" It didn't seem like him to take off without saying goodbye. I wandered around for a few minutes before deciding to check if his car was gone. I opened the front door to see Brock standing on the front porch, leaning against the railing. "Hey"

He jumped up, startled, and turned his head in my direction. "Oh, hey. You scared me."

"Are you alright?"

"Yeah, totally. It's just... the whole time I was in there, with them, I wanted to be out here with you."

Awwwwww. "That is literally the sweetest thing anyone has ever said to me." I leaned on the railing next to him, looking out at the stars while he stared at me.

I watched out of the corner of my eye as he leaned in closer to me. Once he was just an inch away, the flipped my face towards his.

Is he gonna kiss me?! My brain was shouting at me to do something.

Yes, of course I like Brock and want nothing more than for him to kiss me. But at the same time, I know I still have feelings for Brayden, whether I want them or not.

It seems too late for me to make my decision, as Brock had made his. Brock's lips were already locked on mine, moving to the melody of a song only the two of us knew. He gripped my hips tightly, pulling me impossibly closer to him.

Unfortunately, we both had to break away to breath at some point. That's when he said it. "Jessie, will you be my girlfriend?"

The only relationship I have ever been in was with Brayden, and we were never even official! I couldn't help but think, is this how it's supposed to go? Hang out a couple times, kiss once or twice, then your boyfriend and girlfriend?

But I decided to just put all those doubts aside and just follow Caleb's advice, loosen up. Don't be so serious.

"I'd love to."
