4:00 pmI decided to give Brock the silent treatment. I didn't say a single word to him all class, and I'm proud of it.
The tennis matches had just started. I knew I wasn't playing today, so I decided to get some homework done. As I bent down to get my homework, I notice someone standing a few feet behind me, slowly moving closer.
As I sat back up- "Guess who!" The mystery person said, covering my eyes.
I knew it was John. I recognized his voice and he's the only one I knew who would be coming to a tennis match any time soon. "Hmm..... is it Sam?" I decided to humor him.
"Nope, you get two more guesses."
"Is it..... Kelly?"
"Seriously?"
I laughed. "Hi, John." I moved over on the bench, and he climbed over to sit next to me. "I've been meaning to ask you, who is your girlfriend?"
He looked around for her. "She's playing over on the sixth court."
I gasped. "Molly is your girlfriend?!" I got a lot of 'shhh's after that. How do I tell him that she made out with my brother? Twice!
"Yeah, why?"
"Um...... no reason. Just that her and I don't exactly get along." If I tell him, he'll hate me. Or think I'm just making thing up.
"Damn, guess that rules out Molly ever hanging out with us."
"Yeah, too bad." My voices was laced in sarcasm. "If you don't mind me asking, how long have you been together?"
"Since last spring."
"I hate to admit it, but Molly is playing pretty well." Erika came and sat on the bench adjacent to ours. "Oh, hey John."
"You two know each other?" I asked.
"Well, it's not exactly a big school." She's right. It's only about half the size of the high school I would have gone to in New York. It's actually about the same size as the elementary school.
"I should probably go say hi to her." I waved to John as he crossed over to the farthest court.

*ding dong*
I heard the doorbell ring, but was too lazy to get up off the couch. "Jessie! It's for you!" I heard Cade call for me.
I've been spending most days here after school. I'd do homework with Spencer, since we had some of the same teachers, then go home after dinner.
"Who is it?" I ask before I rounded the corner to come face to face with my so called boyfriend.
"Can we talk?" Brock gestured for me to meet him on the front porch. I hesitantly followed and shut the door behind me. "I remember the last time we stood here together."
"The day you asked me to be your girlfriend." I thought back to that day. Brock had had me tied around his finger. I was infatuated. I had changed so much in those 5 weeks, it's hard to believe I'm the same person. "Where were you? That day. Where were you that you couldn't even be bothered to text me back?"
"I was, umm...." I watched, as he struggled to come up with an excuse.
"Maybe if you had some sort of valid reason, I'd find it easier to move past this." His eyes finally met mine. And I didn't see the same Brock that I met that night at the party. His eyes weren't the carefree, loving guy I had come to care about. They were cold. And hard. Soulless. I don't know who's eyes these were. I had a feeling I wasn't the only one who had changed.
"I had no reason. I turned my phone off, and was laying on my couch watching reruns of The Office." He looked me straight in the eyes as he said that. That made it hurt all the worse. Because I know it's true.
"Brock, we need to break up." On the one hand, I was upset. But on the other, I was furious. I don't think I've ever been this angry towards another human being in my life.
All of a sudden, something in his eyes changed slightly. If I hadn't been staring into them, I wouldn't have noticed. "Wait, no."
"No, what? You're being a total ass Brock! What could you possibly say to change this now?"
"I love you." He whispered.
I can't say I wasn't fazed just a bit. "That doesn't change anything. Those words obviously mean nothing to you, Brock."
"Jessie, look at me." I hadn't even realized my head had dropped down. "I love you, Jessie. I fucking love you!"
I felt the tears start to flow. No matter how hard I tried to stop them, they kept falling. "No....no." I learned my lesson with Brayden. Getting my hopes up only makes it easier for someone else to tear them down.
I scurried back inside as quickly as I could, locking the door behind me.
Why do I get the feeling Brock just fucked up my life forever?
