"Hey, can you pick me up?""Um, I guess" Adam said from the other end of the call. "Why?"
I wasn't exactly in the mood to explain. "What, I need an excuse to see my big brother before he heads off to college and I don't see him for 3 months?"
"I have reason to believe that's not the entire reason." I could hear the thick sarcasm in his voice.
"Fine, I'll tell you later. I just need to get out of here for a while."
10 minutes later a black Pilot SUV pulled into the bottom of the driveway. I assumed it was Adam.
I shoved my phone and a bag chips into my bag before quickly slipping out of the house and into the cool air of the night.
"So, are you going to tell me what's wrong?" Adam asked as I climbed into the passenger seat of his car.
I sighed, giving in. "My mom and I had a fight."
"If there is one thing I've learned in the past eighteen years, it is that no matter what the argument is over, it's best to just forgive and move one. Sometimes, you don't get the chance. For all you know that person won't be with us next week and you may never forgive yourself for not making things right."
I think my jaw was literally hanging open. I never really got to know Adam much. He seemed so serious and.... well, honestly I didn't think we'd get along well. "Wow. Deep." Was all I could come up with to say.
Adam reminds me a lot of Jake, except maybe a bit more understanding. Though they had the same dark brown hair unlike their fellow triplet.
He turned to face me once we were parked in front of the house. "Well, I speak from experience." Was he talking about his, our, mother?

"Wake up!"
I felt someone shaking me as I stirred in bed.
"Wake up! Wake up! Wake! Up!"
"What?!" I yelled, finally giving in. Turning over, I was faced with a very impatient Caleb. "What is so important that you had to wake me up?" I asked him, clearly annoyed.
".... I'm bored." I turned back over. "No!" Damn this kid is persistent. "I thought we could hangout. I am leaving tomorrow."
I turned back to face him and saw his big puppy dog eyes. "..........alright." I climbed down from the loft to get ready for the day.
"Yay!" Caleb practically jumped down from the loft. "Oh, by the way there's a going away party for me, Jake, and Adam tonight."
"Cool, what time?" I said, walking into the bathroom to freshen up.
Caleb followed me around, telling me... whatever he was telling me, as I continued to get ready.
10 minutes later
"Okay I'm ready, what do you wanna do."
"Have you been listening to anything I've said?"
"Honestly, no." I gave him a truthful answer.
Caleb practically dragged me out of the house to his yellow Volkswagen Beetle.
Once we were both in the car, I just had to finally ask. "What's up with you and the color yellow?"
"When we were kids, because there were so many of us our mom would always dress each of us in a certain color. Which eventually turned into whatever she bought for one of us had to be our color." He laughed. "She always said it was so she never mixed up any of our clothes when doing the laundry but we all new it was probably just OCD."
The car came to a stop and I realized we were in a small shopping center on the highway. "You're taking me shopping?" I asked, changing the subject.
"Nope." Was his only reply as I followed him into Bernie's Frozen Treats.
Since it was a Thursday morning, the place was empty besides a few people here and there.
"Mint chocolate chip ice cream, please." I gave the old man behind the counter, who I assume was Bernie, my order.
"Mint chocolate chip?" Caleb looked at strangely.
"Yeah, so?"
"That's one of my favorites!"
"It's one of everyone's favorites, Caleb." I laughed. We sat down at one of the many empty tables after Caleb got his ice cream. "You haven't lived here much longer than I have. How did you know about this place?"
"I guess when I was given the choice of babysitting and driving around town, I chose driving around town." He chuckled.
After we both finished eating, we decided to just head home since I had my last round of tennis tryouts soon.

"Triangle, go!" Coach Lacoy yelled out and we heard the whistle blow. I groaned, but started running.
Erika and I were the last to finish again, but not by much.
Coach Lacoy assigned all 14 of us our matches for the day. "Jessie, you're playing Kaylie on court 4, then Lola, and Stacy." He informed me. Great. I'm playing against the juniors.
I nodded and headed over to one of the farther courts. I was greeted by a very smiley person. "Hi! I'm Kaylie Parker!" She held out her hand for me to shake.
"Jessie Keene." I watched out of the corner of my eye as Jake, for the first time, got out of his car and sat on the bench next to the court.
Of course, what else would I expect, Kaylie turned towards Jake. "And who is this?" Her smile grew even bigger.
"Jake Sawyer, Jessie's older brother." He stood up and shook her hand.
"Yep, yep...... and he's leaving for college tomorrow so too bad you won't get to see him anymore oh no....." I blabbered.
"Hey Jess, why doesn't your new friend here come to the party tonight?"
I swear he won't live to go off to college tomorrow morning.
"Party?" Kaylie asked him.
"Yeah, my family is throwing a little going away party for me and my brothers."
It's like I'm not even here, what the hell?
Kaylie giggled. "I'll be there."
"Cool. Jess, give her the address."
Oh, so now you can see me. "Okay, can we get on with our match now?"
"Yeah, yeah." Jake went back to sitting on the bench.
Kaylie spun her racket.
I serve first.
"Love all, first serve!"
