I felt hands grab me, pulling me back."No! You can't leave me with them!" I turned back around to see Kyla pointing at Brayden a few feet away from us. And what was Brayden doing? One of the only two things he does in public, making out with his girlfriend, Ella.
Our other friends walked up behind us. I groaned. "Do they wait for us to be around to start sucking each other's faces?" Declan jumped in. I swear he can read my mind.
I guess staring at them worked because eventually he took his tongue out of Ella's mouth long enough to notice us.
I split off from the group to go to my locker before making my way to first period orchestra. Finally getting to class, with five minutes to spare, I quickly took out my viola and took my seat next to Ella in the front row.
Ella has hated me with a burning passion ever since I "took" the first chair seat from her and she moved down to second. It makes it pretty hard to hangout with Brayden, since Ella is always clinging to his side.
Turning around, I spotted Julian tuning his violin a couple of seats away from us. Well, this is as good a time as any. I thought as I stood up, feeling Ella's glare piercing through my back.
"Hey, Julian, can I talk to you?"
"Yeah, sure what's up?"
I told him exactly what I told both Brittany and Kyla.
I always knew Julian had a soft side. I mean he's an athlete who is also an amazing violinist. But what I didn't expect was this.
He stood up and pulled me into a big hug. "Gosh I'm gonna miss you Little J..." (a nickname he gave me since he grew about a foot taller than me)
I felt my shoulder getting wet because of his tears, causing me to break down as well. "Same here Big J" was all I could manage to get out. I didn't care that we were in class. I didn't care that they were probably all staring at us. Sure, showing people I'm vulnerable is the one thing that i hate most, but on the other hand, one of my friends was actually comforting me instead of just yelling at me, which was actually pretty funny but that's besides the point.

5th period
So, I've told Kyla, Brittany, and Julian. The only ones left were Dustin and Declan.
Seeing them in the hallway up ahead, I decided to just get it over with. "Hey guys, by the way I'm moving to North Carolina. Okay see you at lunch!" I waved and quickly walked towards the cafeteria, away from their shocked faces. I couldn't face them, the same reason I told Kyla over the phone and not in person.
Luckily, I wouldn't have to. I silently thanked the school for having split lunches, took an empty seat next to Julian and some of his friends I don't know, and took out my Gluten Free pretzels. Stupid allergies, I thought.
I think they were talking about their next volleyball game? I kinda spaced out, trying to imagine what my life will be like next year.
The rest of the day went by painfully slow. I only have one class with Declan this year, but Dustin has been grilling me with questions all afternoon. "When? Why? Are you going to visit?" All. Day. Long.
"I don't know when. Because my mom wants to. Yes, of course I'll visit."
I didn't really want to see anyone by the time I got home, but I'd already made plans for Declan to come over to study for our science test, like we do the day before every test.
I have no idea how he beat me home, or who let him in, but when I turned into my bedroom I was faced with Declan lying in the middle of the floor on his stomach with each of his limbs stretching towards a different corner of the room.
I couldn't stop myself from laughing. "What.... are....you doing..... " I said, struggling for breath.
"Noooo" he whined. "You can't leave."
I stopped laughing. "Let's just study, yeah?"

It's been over a year. Luckily for me, Mom refuse to hire a realtor so she still hasn't sold the house. My little sisters, Sadie and Raven, have been lashing out a lot more and I don't really blame them, but Mom has been relying on Roan and me a lot more because of it.
I felt like the kids from the movie Ramona and Beezus. Beezus had to bee the good older sister and help sell the house while Ramona, being the younger sister, tried to sabotage the open house in hopes she'd get to stay. But of course, just like now, it didn't work. All it did was make more work for everyone else.
We've slowly started to pack the nonessentials, framed pictures, my old American Girl dolls, and now travel documents, that we won't be needing for a while.
I've never actually seen my original birth certificate. I've seen a copy of it once or twice but never the original.
"Jess, can you collect all of yours and your brother and sisters' documents? They're in the red bin in my closet." Mom called from down the hall.
I not-so-happily obligued as I was in the middle of watching a very intense episode of One Tree Hill. I found the bin Mom had mentioned and started taking the folders out one by one.
At the bottom I found the one labeled "Jessica" and started to look through it, out of curiosity. What harm could come from looking through my own folder, right? Apparently this:
