gabi and i have a date later tonight and i've never been more nervous to see her. i was supposed to pick her up as soon as she was ready which i figured was going to be around seven because her basketball practice got out at 5:30 and i told her to wear something nice. tonight was finally going to be the night i made things official with us.

ella was exactly right. i COULD do this. i already raked up the confidence to come out to all my friends, family, and start talking to a girl in the first place. asking her to be my girlfriend was nothing compared to all of that.

i put on a playlist and started doing my makeup. just something simple. i was taking her to the same place we had our first official date, the boathouse cafe. i wanted to take this next step at somewhere sentimental for us. i went downstairs after i was done with my makeup to pass time until it was time to go. i explained my plan to my parents and they said they thought it was genius. they both gave me a hug and said it's good to see me come out of my shell. that's what everyone has been saying to me lately. i mean, nothing felt insanely different for me but i think it was just the way i projected my feelings was different now. instead of keeping everything in all the time i spike my mind, i laughed more, i just had so much more fun.

finally, it was time to go. i grabbed my keys, said bye to my parents and headed out to my car. i climbed into the driver's seat and took a deep breath, "let's do this." i drove to gabi's house hoping i remembered the way to get there. sure enough, i did and i pulled into her driveway. i texted her saying i got there and she said she'd be out in a second.

i saw the front door open and out stepped gabi. she looked adorable. she wore a plain black crop top, a long fuzzy jacket, and black skinny jeans. her style was so simple yet so chic. she always looked like she was ready to walk the streets of new york, listening to an important business call, ready to take on the world. i loved it. she smiled at me and opened the passenger side door.

she hopped in the seat with a, "hey liv!!" and buckled up her seat belt. "where are we going?" she asked. i smirked, "that's a surprise babygirl. you'll love it though i promise." i let her have the aux and she put on the 1975. they were definitely one of my favorite bands and something we bonded over on our very first time out.

as i pulled into the cafe parking lot i heard an, "awww!!" from gabi. i looked over at her, "where we had our first date." she nodded and smiled at me. i was so relieved she liked it. we walked in hand and hand, ordered, and sat down waiting for them to call us up. after a quick wait i went to get our drinks and set them back down at the table.

she told me about her day, how her practice went, when their next game is, just small talk. i loved listening to her talk about basketball. it was something she was truly invested in and loved. it was definitely my weakness when people had things they were passionate about. after we finished our drinks i figured this was the best time to ask the burning question.

"gabi," i got her attention and she looked up at me, "this past...what is it a month? anyways, this past month talking to you has been amazing. but now, i wanna take a step further." i took a deep breath in and grabbed her hands, "gabriella, do you wanna be my girlfriend?" she nodded and smiled excitedly, "of course alivia." i gave her a thumbs up and a quick kiss. gabi made an instagram post to let everyone know the news.

the support i was getting was beyond appreciated. i felt so good right now. i couldn't stop smiling the way ride home. me and gabi sang our hearts out all the way to her house. i can see myself falling in love with this girl for sure.
