Lou's POV

The second we entered Freddy's Daniel led me right up to the cashier. I read the name on his shirt. Bryson. It's a cute name and he winks at me every now and then when I look between the menu and him.

"I'll just have a plain burger with a side of fries," I say pulling out my wallet but Daniel grabs my wrist turning me around to face him as he did earlier.

"Let me pay," he almost pleads but it's forceful and I shake my head at him, turning around to hand Bryson my card but Daniel's hand pulls at me again as he whispers in my ear.

"Please let me pay for you, Lou." And that's all it takes for me to step to the side and put my card back in my wallet and then in my back pocket. Daniel paying for me? For a girl? I really wanna ask him why but I know for a fact he's just gonna push my questions away.

Daniel grabs a cup from the stand and heads to the fountain drinks. He puts ice in his cup then puts it under the coke label. Someone's got taste.

I follow him all the way, watching his actions as he puts on the cap of the cup then pokes in the red straw. When he turns around he almost bumps into me, rising his chest against mine.

"Pick a table love," he rolls his eyes acting like he's annoyed but I know for sure he's not annoyed with me. His small smile shows it but the second I turn around and pick the booth in the back, on the left by the glass windows his face is straight again.

"You know I never agreed to let you take me out to dinner right?" I slide into the booth, the cushy red smooth leather letting my lower body relax. I put both of my elbows on the table, holding my head up in my hands.

Daniel shoots me a strange look, "Putting your elbows on the table is considered to be rude you know that right?" His blue sapphire eyes flick to mine, dodging the question by answering it with another one.

"This is like dress code. Are my elbows distracting you Seavey?" I quirk back, leaning back and resting while putting my chin down and furrowing my eyebrows at him.

"I can't even see them," he points out pulling the lavender fabric on my sleeve when I rest my hands out on top of the table. Trying to pull my hands and arms closer to him as I cross them, my fingers interlocking with each other, the cuffs of my sweatshirt covering up to my knocking knuckles.

This is when the awkwardness starts. Where we both try to get a glimpse of one another while sneaking looks at the other and trying to keep ourselves busy without talking to each other. I begin to twiddle my thumbs and sneak my few peeks every time Daniel's dozing off to something other than me or my eyes at least.

"I-

"Order number 415!" A girl on the microphone calls and both Daniel and I get up to go get my food. I grab the tray while Daniel takes both things off the tray making me roll my eyes at him because I'm technically carrying nothing.

"Hopefully this is good," I say softly, grabbing the greasy shiny burger and plopping the first bite into my mouth while eating the rest of it in seconds while Daniel stares at me.

"Staring is rude," I smirk and Daniel lets out a breathless chuckle nodding his head as he grabs a fry out of the red basket.

"I'll take it as you like it?" Daniel asks and I nod my head vigorously grabbing my own fry out of the basket and munching it down.
