Raiya's POV:

Subaru has been doing a good job of avoiding me because I haven't seen him for a few days, which is strange because we're living in the same house. It gave me time to think about the dreams that Yui had been showing me. I woke up after having the same dream yet again, feeling a headache coming on again. I grumbled as I walked down the stairs slowly when I tripped on my feet, eyes widening as I fell forward.

"Fuck."

I shut my eyes tightly when I felt someone's arm wrap around my waist, pulling my back into a strong chest. I peeked through one eye and noticed that Subaru was there, a neutral expression on his face.

"You can't even walk down the stairs properly?"

I laughed dryly and pulled out of his warm embrace, moving to walk forward as I held the side of my head. I fell to my knees and Subaru was instantly next to me, concern showing.

"Are you okay?"

"I-I'm fine."

"Like hell you are."

He carried me princess-style and helped me back onto my bed, placing me gently on it.

"Thanks."

He moved to leave but I grabbed the sleeve, tugging on it.

"Why are you avoiding me?"

"Tch, let go."

"No," I said stubbornly.

"I said let go."

"No."

He sighed before facing me and I patted the empty part of the bed next to me. He reluctantly sat in it and I gave him a small smile.

"How have you been?"

"Okay."

My smile dropped at his blunt answer.

"Subaru-"

"Are you done?"

I felt my heart ache at his cold response.

"Stop being such an asshole!" I hissed.

He growled, turning to face me.

"You're the one forcing me to be here."

"Just talk to me, Subaru. Don't you know that talking to someone can make you feel better?"

"Shut up."

"No, I won't! I can tell that there's a kind person underneath that mask of yours and I want to be able to get rid of the guilt that eats you up every day."

"What would you know? You're just a stupid human."

He stood up, reaching for the door handle.

"She showed me. She showed me how she died, Subaru."

He inhaled sharply, red eyes glowing as he turned to look at me. They were shining with guilt and sadness, so much that I felt my own chest hurt.

"Please...Talk to me Subaru."

He sighed, taking a seat once again and putting his head in his hands.

"It's all my fault," he whispered.

"What do you mean?"

"My father...he's the root of all our problems. He would always be telling her things that weren't true and since she was so naive, she became depressed. I didn't notice, of course, she always put up a good front. Our father would also pressure her about the Adam and Eve plan-"

"Adam and Eve?"

"You....You don't need to know that, it's not important. But as time passed, her condition worsened and the night of a full moon, she had ended up stabbing herself with my knife."

I nodded, remembering the scene clearly.

"So how is this your fault?"

"I ignored her pain! I could have prevented her from dying, she still had so much more time to live and be happy."

"You know what I think? I think there simply was not enough trust in the relationship. If Yui believed everything your father said without confirming with you and she didn't want to tell you about her depression, then she didn't trust you. Sure, she didn't want you to worry but this is something two people in a relationship should overcome together. Do you want to know what she said to me? She said that she didn't regret anything, that her time with you was the greatest she had in her life. You need to stop feeling guilty over something you had no control over, Subaru. Move on with your head high and look forward to the future. I'm sure that the big guy up there has something in store for you."

I suddenly felt arms make their way around my waist and he pulled me into his embrace. A light blush made its way onto my cheeks and I sat there stiffly.

"Thank you, Raiya," he said shakily.

For the first time, I heard my name pass his lips and my light blush became darker as I wrapped my arms around his broad shoulders. I felt something wet on my shoulders where his face was but I didn't say anything, only rubbed his back comfortingly.

"Of course," I whispered.

We stayed like that for a few minutes before Seb appeared out of nowhere, squeezing his way in between both of us. I chuckled, letting him settle in Subaru's lap. His face was dry now but under his eyes were a bit red.

"Who knew Subaru could cry?" I teased.

"Shut up," he said, cheeks pink.

I pat his shoulder before trying to take Seb out of his lap, only for the cat to protest and plant himself back in Subaru's lap.

"You're gonna steal my cat now, vampire?" I chuckled.

"You look pretty when you smile genuinely."

My ears were burning as I looked at him in surprise.

"Idiot," I muttered, looking down.

"I mean it."

"I get it so stop." I groaned.

He suddenly grabbed my hand, pulling me closer and stared at my wrist. He gulped, red eyes glowing.

"Are you...thirsty?" I asked cautiously.

He only nodded, unable to answer. I sighed, pushing it towards his mouth.

"What does it feel like anyways?" I asked, curious.

"It's comforting like a warm blanket is covering me." was all he said before he bit in.

I flinched at the pain but he sucked gently, making it less painful than what I had gotten before. A few minutes later and I was beginning to feel lightheaded so I tapped his shoulder with my free hand.

"Subaru, too much," I muttered.

He pulled away, licking his lips. He helped me lay down and I tucked his bangs behind his ear.

"How cute," I whispered, not quite in the right mind.

He turned pink at my compliment, covering my eyes with his big hand.

"Sleep, dummy."

I smiled, nodding as I closed my eyes, entering dreamland but not before I felt something soft on my forehead.

"Goodnight, Raiya."
