Raiya's POV:
The past week has been spent on my bed while I was getting babied, Subaru doing everything that I needed help with whether that meant feeding me or helping me fall asleep. Unfortunately, the time left with him was getting shorter and I only had enough strength to move two days before the dreaded day. I was held in Subaru's arms bridal style while a blindfold was placed over my pink eyes.
"Where are you taking me?" I giggled, wrapping my arms tighter around his neck.
"Somewhere," he said bluntly.
I pouted as I felt the wind blow softly around us and I smelt something salty in the air. Subaru's minty breath washed over my face.
"Okay, take it off."
I took the blindfold off and saw the ocean in front of us, the full moon shining brightly while the waves crashed quietly on the shore.
"How are we here?" I asked, awestruck. "The nearest beach is a thirty-minute drive and this looks nothing like that. If anything, this is an upgrade."
He ignored me and dragged me to a table farther to my left, the candles glowing warmly. Pizza slices were placed on a plate and I burst out laughing while Subaru just looked embarrassed.
"T-This was all last minute!" he yelled.
"It's okay, Susu! This is fine." I said, laughter dying down.
"Tch."
He pulled out the chair for me and I sat on it, watching as he sat on his own. I clapped my hands, grinning widely.
"Thank you for the food!"
We ate silently, my eyes trained on Subaru's figure as he ate boredly.
"Two days till we have to separate huh?" I mumbled while nibbling on a piece of pepperoni.
He paused for a split second but composed himself.
"I guess time flew by," he mumbled back.
"It really did."
I reminisced at the memories of us together, our first bad impressions, from shouting to words of love. From enemies to lovers, it was almost ironic how the world worked. I felt a sob slip past my lips as the dam was let loose and Subaru was quick, reaching my side and pulling me into his arms. I felt my tears stain his black shirt but he didn't seem to mind, instead, encouraging me to let all these feelings and frustrations out. After all of the breaking down, we continued to eat normally like nothing had ever happened, if you don't count my red eyes and runny nose. After we had finished, we took a walk down the shoreline, admiring the stars in the night sky while our hands grasped each other desperately. He suddenly stopped and turned me to him, staring me straight in the eye.
"I love you." he blurted out.
I held in a laugh at his confession and pat his cheek lovingly.
"I know, Susu. I love you too."
His fingers fidgeted and I raised an eyebrow at it before he suddenly dropped onto one knee.
"Are you okay, Susu?!" I asked, trying to help him up.
Instead of taking my help, he held out a hand signaling me to stop. I frowned, confused. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a , diamond leaves crossing with ruby gems that matched the color of Subaru's eyes.
"S-Subaru?"
"Ah fuck, I'm not good at this kind of stuff. I know I leave in two days so I wanted to give you this, something that symbolizes my love for you. We've been through a shit ton of stuff together and I believe that it made us stronger. My father and yours will be the biggest obstacle we have yet to face but I know that if it's us, we can beat God himself."
He grabbed my left hand and placed the ring around my left finger, the band fitting perfectly.
"I'm not proposing to you right now but this is a promise that somewhere in the future when the timing is right, the real thing will happen. You helped me get rid of the burden on my chest after Yui's death and you taught me how to love again. I can't picture a life without you in it, let alone a future. I hope that we can stay together forever."
"B-but I'm a human, Subaru. Even knowing that, would you be willing to spend the rest of my short life together?"
He stood up, dusting the sand off his pants before pulling me into his arms, my hands placing themselves on his chest.
"I was going to propose making you a vampire myself-"
I put my hand over his mouth, shaking my head as a smile graced my lips.
"I would rather not, Subaru."
He inhaled sharply before nodding but I could tell he was a bit disappointed at my response.
"As much as I would love to spend eternity with you, something in me is telling me that path is my last resort. I want to spend my life on this Earth as a human, by your side. That's all that matters, Susu."
"I'll take what I can get," he said, placing a kiss on my forehead.
I sighed contently but the moment was cut short when I saw a figure in the distance. She had long purple hair and her green eyes seemed familiar as she stared at us, a sinister smile on her red lips.
"Subaru, who is that?" I asked, pointing.
He turned around but his eyes easily drifted past the female.
"Who are you talking about?"
My heartbeat suddenly began quickening, to the point where it was painful. I hissed, gripping the place while holding onto Subaru's arm for support.
"Oi, what's wrong?!"
"I-I'm not sure myself. My chest aches." I managed to get out.
Something in Subaru seemed to click and his eyes narrowed as he turned back once more.
"Does she have purple hair?"
I nodded, unable to speak a word as the world was beginning to turn dark.
"Cordelia." he hissed like the word was poison.
"Cordelia?" I whispered.
He suddenly picked me up bridal style and jumped, soaring through the air.
"We're going home," he said in a cold tone, the coldest I had ever heard it. "I'll explain everything there."
Instead of answering, I succumbed to the darkness as Subaru's heat surrounded me in a warm cocoon.
