Raiya's POV:
There was a constant beeping next to my ear and I moved my hand to slap it, thinking it was my alarm, only to hit the air.
'What's happening?' I thought.
Suddenly, all the memories from before rushed back into my mind, causing my eyes to flutter open. I squinted at the bright lights above me before my pupils adjusted and I looked around. Sitting in a chair next to me was a sleeping Subaru, who was holding my hand. His face looked a bit sunken in and his hair was a mess, more than usual. I grimaced at the number of tubes and wires coming out of my hand but I ignored it, using my free one to stroke Subaru's hair. He groaned before opening his red eyes, looking at my hand confusedly. He seemed to realize that I was awake as he jerked forward, grabbing my cheeks.
"Raiya!"
My dry throat made my voice sound five times deeper.
"Calm down, Susu."
He rushed to the table before giving me a cup of water and I drank it gratefully before playing with the glass.
"How long was I out?" I whispered.
"About a week."
I inhaled deeply and closed my eyes nodding. I rubbed my bandaged neck awkwardly and scooted over, patting the empty space next to me.
"C'mere."
Subaru nodded his head, easily placing himself in the open place. I placed my head on his shoulder and I could feel a small shake run through him.
"I'm sorry I couldn't protect you."
I rolled my eyes, giving him a kiss on the cheek.
"Don't even worry about it Susu. That bastard is out of our lives and that's all that matters. A small wound like this won't stop me from living my best life."
"A small wound?! You almost died!"
"But I'm not dead so it's fine." I said, making sure to drag out the 'fine' part.
He sighed, rubbing his face tiredly.
"I'm just glad that you're fine."
I smiled gently, pecking his lips lightly. He pushed me under him, turning the small kiss into a deep one. He moved onto my neck, kissing the exposed skin and avoiding the actual wound. His breathing deepened as he began to tug at the gown, exposing my collarbone.
"Can I?"
I nodded, already knowing what he was asking for. His fangs slid easily into my skin, the numbing medicine already in effect so all I could feel was a small pinch. He drank cautiously, occasionally watching my facial expressions. I rubbed his shoulders, encouraging him to continue. Unfortunately, our moment together was cut short as my parents walked in, bags under both their eyes. Subaru hurriedly pulled away but it was too late, the blood on both my body and his mouth giving away our actions. My mom fainted while my dad looked like he was just about ready to kill Subaru, his fists clenched.
"Mom!" I yelled.
She opened her eyes, blinking slowly before rubbing her forehead and closing her eyes again.
"Raiya, you have a lot of explaining to do."
I grinned sheepishly and they sat down, listening on about what has been going on for the last two months. My mom had calmed down considerably but my dad was still shaking with rage.
"I can't believe I let these blood-sucking creatures live under my roof!" he hissed, narrowing his eyes at Subaru.
"Dad!" I yelled.
"No! Stop being selfish for one second Raiya and see that our lives could have been in danger-"
"No, you stop being selfish for one fucking second dad. You're the one who took this offer and nothing bad has happened within this time span has it? I just think you're over fucking reacting."
Subaru grabbed my arm and gave me a warning look but that didn't stop me.
"If anything, you seemed to be getting along with some of them. Don't be hating on Subaru because if you continue this stupid act, I won't forgive you, dad. I won't let you discriminate against the boy I love."
My father inhaled sharply while my mother gasped loudly.
"Y-You love him?! He and his brothers can't stay here anymore. How can a sixteen-year-old know what love is-"
"Kenji!"
The room became silent at my mother's yell, all of us a bit stunned. It took a lot for my mother to yell or get mad but when it happens, you can expect my father to listen.
"Shiho?"
"God, I'm so sick of you acting like this. Why can't you respect our daughter's decision and realize that she's old enough to be able to do things on her own? Raiya is clearly in love with him and vice versa, you can see it in their eyes. You can expect a divorce if you continue to act like a child."
My father sighed, massaging his temples.
"Fine, I will let you stay for the remaining time but after that, if you are seen near our house, I will not hesitate to drive a wooden stake into your heart."
With those parting words, he stormed out of the room. I felt my resolve crumble as tears unconsciously fell down my face, my sniffles resounding in the room. Subaru pulled me into his embrace as my mother held my hand gently.
"Why does he have to act like this?" I whispered.
"I'm sorry, Raiya. He's probably extremely stressed right now and we can't do anything but hope that he'll get better. The doctor said that we can take you home tomorrow so I'll leave you two alone."
She gave me a kiss on the forehead before walking out. I sighed, snuggling more into Subaru's heat as my tears dried.
"Susu, I'm sorry about him."
"You don't need to apologize and I understand where he's coming from, he just wants to protect you."
"I can do well protecting my own self and you know that."
He chuckled, nodding against my head.
"Yes, I know really well. But enough of that, you're tired aren't you?"
At his words, my eyes became heavy as he rubbed my back.
"I am, aren't I? I think I'm going to go to sleep, goodnight Susu." I slurred.
"Goodnight, my Rose."
