Let me know what you think of the trailer.
Should I go to the party with Madi? Or should I stay home and find something to do?
If I go, I'd have fun. I would dance, without the use of alcohol this time because I'll be driving tonight. Plus, school is on Monday and I would like to take advantage of having fun the day before.
If I stay, however, I'll more than likely just stay in my room all day watching movies, maybe I'll even order a pizza. But I'll probably fall asleep early. My homework was done on Friday so I don't have to worry about that.
Without much hesitation, I quickly get out of bed and go into my closet. Madi said the party wasn't formal so I settled on a black body suit that dipped at the chest, and some blue jeans rolled up at my ankles. I chose my all white converse though I cringed at their dirtiness.
Reminder: must buy a new pair soon.
As always, I let my hair down, adding a thin choker with a crescent moon pendant to my neck and by the time I finished getting ready it was almost ten. I fix my bangs, letting them fall across my forehead, my hair was naturally in their curls with some hairs array but I didn't quite mind them.
I was in the middle of brushing my teeth when there was a knock on my door.
"Are you going out?" Jaque says poking his head in the bathroom. I look up to him through the mirror.
"What do you think?" I retort and spit out the toothpaste. I rinse my mouth and add cream to my hands.
"Jesus," he mutters under his breath. "I just thought I should let you know that I'll be going out as well, so."
I look up to him with warning in my eyes. "No drugs. And no drinking. And don't forget we have school tomorrow."
"I know, I know." He waves me off. "So where are you going?"
"A party, you?"
"Same." He says making me nod. "As your older brother, it is my job to let you know that if any guy were to disrespect you in anyway, I expect it to come back to me."
"Oh, please." I scoff. "What will you do?"
"Need I remind you that I took karate lessons?"
"Need I remind you, I did too?" I say. He was not about to give me that toxic masculinity speech older brothers do. The "I'm your older brother, guys can take advantage of you because you are a girl".
I am perfectly capable of taking care of myself, that should be a common privilege and not only directed towards men.
"It's my job." He says.
"No, your job is to stay away from drugs and alcohol or mom and dad will put you back in rehab." I say, pushing past him.
"Cool, I'm leaving now." He says. "Have fun at your lame party."
"I will." I say and hear the door close, signaling he left. At ten thirty, my phone goes off with a notification from Madi texting me that she was outside.
She leaves her car in my driveway and we take mine. "I sent you the location." Madi says, applying lipgloss while looking at herself in the visor. When I click on the location, it tells me that I already have it saved on my phone.
