The Princess Test

Chapter 15

  The next morning, the entire kingdom of Azarath was wide awake and dressed in their best clothes by dawn. Everything was more hectic than usual as mothers and fathers dressed their little ones. Teenagers applied make up to their faces and the knights and warriors rode back into the kingdom. We go to the royal palace where the atmosphere was more hectic than usual. In the royal kitchen, water was boiling, the oven was cooking and frying pans were sizzling. The chefs and their cooking assistants were running around in a hurry, trying to get everything done in time.

"Merek! Get that pot!"

"Isabele, what are you doing!"

"Terryn, check on the soup!"

"Eleanor, get on that pie!"

       The kitchen was chaos, but things were not better one floor above, where the royal decorators were sweeping, mopping, polishing and dusting everything in the celebration hall. Head decorator Diminia was trying to keep everyone in line but she herself was just as panicked as everyone.

"Ryia, we need everything spick and span. Get to it!"

"Has anyone seen Dain? I need him on mop duty!"

"Oh for heavens sake Iria, there's still a spot on that window. Clean it immediately!

      The only place that seemed calm was the top tower of the palace, where the princes, princess and the Queen are being dressed for the occasion. There, seamstresses were making final touches, editing the dresses and suits to perfection. In Raven's room, she was talking to Robin while her seamstress added an extra layer to her dress.

       Her dress was perfect. She wore a long, sleeveless black dress with a cut open slit and navy blue leggings and black boots. She also wore a Raven necklace and her princess tiara was placed on her head. As soon as she was done she turned to Robin.

"How do I look?"

         Robin was speechless. He just stared at her up and down and his mouth dropped open in awe. 'She was beautiful. Unimaginable. Incredible.' He thought but then snapped back and finally said something.

"You look....like a princess."

         Raven grinned and turned to Robin who had chosen to wear his normal hero gear. She sighed as she looked in her reflection. 'Today was the day. the day of the competition.'

          Once Raven and her brother's were done. They were given their breakfast and rushed into the arena. There, the Lord of Ceremonies, Xalvador Janshai, announced their arrival. "Ladies and Gentlemen of Azarath I welcome you to this fine day, where we will embark on a journey with our beloved princes and princess of Azarath as they take on the challenge of heirs.

             "Before I begin, let me introduce you to our beloved princes and princess. First off, the beautiful and wise Princess Raven Roth!" 

   Raven walked out, remembering to keep a straight face while the Azarathians cheered her on. 

"Next off, the oldest of the Prince Wrath!"

Wrath came out as well looking proud and pompous, Raven thought in disgust how ignorant he looked and she almost showed her face too but at the last minute, remembered and straightened her face.

"Gluttony, the prince who can actually eat a whole turkey in one bite. I'm not kidding."

The audience laughed as Gluttony came out and waved like crazy to the crowd.

"Next, Prince Sloth."

Sloth came out looking like a hobo, his shoulders slacking and his back hunched.

"Alright, the Prince Lust everyone."

Lust walked out, his lips smacking and bowed to everyone.

"Prince Envy people."

Envy looked around as he came out, looking at everyone.

"Lastly, the Prince Greed."

Greed ran out and without even taking the time to walk slowly, ran to where they were standing.

      "Alright, now I'm sure all of you are eager to begin but first of all. Princess, if you please." The Lord called, beckoning Raven forward. She looked around the stage where by Robin was standing at the front row as a guest of honour. The only guest of honour. He grinned at her and she relaxed.

     "Ladies and gentlemen our dear princess has spent a lot of time on Earth and therefore have met many new friends and allies. They cannot be here today...or can they. Ladies and Gentlemen I give to you Raven's allies. First, The Justice League."

     The lord pointed to an empty space in the crowd and there, appeared the hundreds of Leaguers. "Where are we?" Superman asked. "You are here to support fellow ally Raven in her test of the heirs. Next, the Sentinels of Magic!" He pointed to another empty area and out popped all the sentinels of magic. "Behold the test of heirs. A test no one can compare." Etrigan said. 

      The Lord pointed to a last open space "And finally, The Teen Titans." All of the Teen Titans popped up except Beast Boy, Cyborg and Starfire which dissapointed Raven. Robin looked around the Titans as well, shocked that their 3 best friends weren't there. He gave Raven a shrugg. 

        "Excited Princess?" The Lord asked. Raven smiled and nodded. "Then let the Test Begin!"
