"Good bye guys, you really made this whole day better, a lot better" Abby said and gave both, Jamie and Matt a short hug. "Well I assume we see again at the concert!" Matt smiled.
"Oh yes, sure, the bet, because you didn't believe I could steal some food for us" she had to laugh "Yeah sure, we'll see there" she answered and both shortly said bye to Alex and then went off to their homes together, leaving Alex and Absinthe alone.
They stood in front of Victoria Station, it was past four in the morning and slowely London was waking up, or at least the people who were working this early. She thought this mood had something sad. It was cold, some wind was blowing, old, dirty newspapers on the ground were swirling around and here and there some people already craweld out of their houses to start a new day without perspective or hope.
"Ok then Alex, I'll-"
"You'll take a Taxi!" he said and won't let her protest.
"Alex, that would only take more time, than me walking home, believe me, it's only a few minutes and the Taxis here are so fucking expensive!"
"I can pay for a taxi that's no problem, really"
"No Alex. Really I'm fine, I always walk and I've sat far too much today in the train, I want to walk now"
"Fine...then I'll join you. I won't let you go on your own. It's either I call you a cab or you'll have to stand me a little more" he said with a winning but still caring voice.
Abby sighed quietly "Alright then, this way" she said and started to walk in the direction of her appartment. Alex smiled to himself and then speeded up a little so he could walk next to her.
"Wow...I feel so much more safe now..." she said in a fake enthusiastic tone, making him laugh.
"Hey...I just have a better feeling when knowing you got home"
"Ok ok Batman, I know I can't take care of myself"
"That's not what I ment! It's just not really safe for anyone at this time to be alone around here, that's all I say"
She smiled a little at him "I know" Alex knew that she actually was a little glad that he was accompanying her, even though she wouldn't show it of course. They kept on walking in silence, both not really wanting this day to end."Abby?" "Yes" she said as he handed her the cigarett he had light before.
She took some drags and looked at him.
"I want to see you again" he simply stated and also light his cigarett.
She smirked "Oh do ya?"
He looked at her while she was blowing out the smoke into the dark morning.
"Hmm...what if I told you that I only go out with boys who bring me flowers....no flowers no date..."
"Really...well then you leave me no other option than to break into a flower shop right now" he said and made her grin.
"Only a few minutes, hm??" he said as they walked into a smaller street. She shrugged "Only because you're such a slow walker"
"Oh now it's me" he grinned and she noded at him.
"I like to walk home actually, gives you time to get a clear head before getting to bed."
She extinguished the cigarett. Alex had to hide his smile, he had never met a woman who was such a dreamer, just like he was in fact.
"Would you really come to our concert?"
"Of course. I can't miss out the arctic strippers, can I" she answered and simply hooked her arm into his, walking side by side now.
Alex smiled and noded "But first Flowrs, right?"
"That's right Alexander"
He liked when she said his full name and cuddled a little closer to her side.
"We're playing here in two weeks" he stated an Abby noded "Great. You mean I have enough time to learn all your lyrics?"
Alex laughed "Don't worry, till then I'll help you with that"
"Will you... depens on how quick you'll manage th eflower thing...well then I'll teach you stuff about Shakespeare"
"You're still not quite over the fact that I don't like him that much, are you?" he smiled.
"Not at all!"
He also took the last drag from his cigarett and threw it on the street and stepped on it.
For some moments they kept on silent until suddenly Abby stopped.
"What's wrong?" Alex asked but she put her hand over his mouth, making him smell her parfume again. He loved this smell by then.
"Shhh...don't talk....listen" she said quietly and looked directly in his eyes. The light was dim because the next lanterns were some metres away.
First he looked confused and gave her an asking look, but Abby only smiled at the man in front of her. "Listen....that's why I love walking through the city" she said quietly and closed her eyes. Alex looked at her, the darkness only made her more beautiful her thought. He decided to do the same and also closed his eyes.
She moved her hand to his neck and rested it there, feeling his pulse, that seemed as it would speed up a little now that she was so close to him. This fact made her smile to herself and she couldn't deny the fact that there was something growing between them.
He only concentrated on her and the things sourrounding them. And then he understood what she ment. Suddnely he heared all those things that you don't really realise.
The sound of the leafes, roling over the ground, reminding him of the sound that the bird's claws made when they landed on the roof of his parent's home in Sheffield, where he had the room directly under the roof. He sometimes put some corn out on the windowshelf so the birds would come there. He also heared the sound of cars, far away that now sounded like the flowing of a river to him. He could also hear the wind, how it got cought in the trees and in some newspapers laying on the street.
When Alex opened his eyes, Abby looked at him and because she wore heels, she was as tall as him, which made him think of something. Usually the only place where a woman was on the same eye level as him, it was when laying in bed. Somehow this thought made him smile, the situation had something intimate about itself.
"See..?" she said and he noded.
"Good" she said and then hooked her arm back into his and started walking. He wished he had kissed her then, it would have been the perfect moment.

"That's my street" she announced after they walked another ten minutes in silence. Alex looked around. He assumed that her father, the wine specialist with own shops and all helped her out with the rent. It wasn't the best area of London but certainly not the worst. Probably still expensive enough he thought.
They stopped in front of an old building with wooden door and huge windows.
She stood in front of him, both not really sure what to say and what to do.
He softly touched her arm and smiled at the woman who already stole his heart hours ago.
"Good luck on monday....the test" he said quietly, making her smile back at him "Thank you"
Abby then simply leaned in to give him a hug as good bye and he immediately answered the embrace.
She had her cheek against his, smelling his cologne that became familiar to her through the day.
"It was nice to meet you Alex" she whispered into his ear and then gave him a rather long kiss on his cheek, longer than a quick good-bye-kiss should have been. And in the next moment she was already up the stairs and through the door.
"You too" he whispered into the empty and dark morning with a smile on his lips when he saw that the light in the first floor was turned on.Alex stood there for some moments and then decided to also walk to his own appartment because it wasn't even that far away, and he got an idea how he might see her sooner than in two weeks at the concert.
